  • Check to make sure the Sensor Bar cord is inserted into the back of the Wii console and the Sensor Bar is centered above or below your TV screen (more info).
  • Make sure you are using fresh batteries in the Wii Remote.
  • The Wii Remote Controller should be used between 3 to 10 feet from the TV.
  • Make sure no objects are blocking the signals between the Sensor Bar, the Wii console, and the Wii Remote.
  • Check for interference from infra-red light sources, such as candles, sunlight, fireplaces, and stoves.
  • Radio frequency interference may cause the Wii Remote to work erratically. Check for wireless devices such as cordless phones, wireless computer keyboards or mice, or other similar devices, and move or turn them off.
or if the remote lights up briefly than goes out try this
    Try these steps!

  1. Turn the Wii console power OFF by pressing the POWER Button on the front of the console. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds. After a few seconds have elapsed, plug the cord back into the wall outlet.

  2. Turn the power of the Wii console ON. When you see the Health and Safety screen, open the small flap on the front of the Wii console to find a red button labeled "SYNC." Press and hold the SYNC Button down for 15 seconds. This will clear all the syncs on the Wii, allowing you to get a clean start to begin the process described below.

  3. After holding the SYNC Button on the Wii console down for at least 15 seconds, you can now "re-sync" your Wii Remotes:

    1. With the first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below the batteries.

    2. Press and release the small red button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote; the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will blink.

    3. Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console (picture).

    4. When the Player LED blinking stops and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).
    5. This sync procedure (steps "a" through "d" above) must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to the system.

If you are still unable to get the Wii console to recognize your Wii Remote(s) after carefully following the steps above, please call 1-800-255-3700 for further assistance. [nintendos help line]

I have just recently purchased a mad catz remote for the wii, I can't get it to turn on, is there any specific way of turning them on.

Ok did you sync it to the wii?

If not open the back of the controller and u should see a red button, now on the wii itself in the front their is a small door and inside another red button, Hit the red button on the system then the red button on the wii controller and they should sink up once that happens the controller will work,

The reason he controller wont stay on, is because it's not communicating with a system and therefore will shut off to save batteries

Mad catz wii remote wont snyc to my wii but the other conroller works fine

Mad Katz is not licensed by Nintendo. The package probably said licensed by Mad Katz which means absolutely nothing.Buy Nintendo brand or ONLY something that says licensed by Nintendo. It costs maybe a couple dollars more but saves thousands of headaches.I used to repair Nintendo for a company which became an authorized repair center for Nintendo.

Wii remote wont connect ?

if it wont sync after using the red buttons then its just bad batteries from the sound of it or the remote has gone bad.

Try fresh batteries or let the rechargeables charge (assuming they arent bad)

My Mad Catz Wii Remote will sync with my Wii, but the speed of it is slow....how do I speed that up?

Off market wii controllers have had tons of problems, while mad catz can copy the signals, the design of the wii is proprietary to Nintendo. In short, nothing will wii like a genuine wii product.

Hi currently living back at folks and have an annoying brother who keeps using my computers and game consoles he just broke 1tb harddrive and lost all data so i need to password protect everything is there...

Advice pinched from:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080119210336AAlIA7q

To put a password on your Wii,
Go to wii Options>Wii Settings
push the + button, and click parental Controls
Click yes and make a 4 digit pin number that's easy for you to remember, but nothing that someone could easily guess. (like the year you 1st joined a team or something) push OK, enter it again and push ok.
Choose a secret question, like what they ask you to choose when you start a new account somewhere (mother's maiden name, your place of birth, etc.) push ok and type in the answer to that question and push ok.
click "game settings and PIN" and (finally) to block one from playing games, change the "highest game rating allowed" option to something low (preferably early childhood so one wont be able to play ANY games without your permission) by pushing the down icon. hit ok, confirm, and "settings complete".

when you go to play a game, it will ask for the PIN everytime, which will eventually be a pain in the neck, but at least you'll know your games are safe
