Screen stretched on JVC AV-28WT5EKS TV

The picture on my JVC AV28WT5EKS TV is permanently stretched horizontally so that 1 or 2 inches is missing at either side. Changing the aspect ratio has no effect. Picture is perfect apart from this, the set is about 7 years old.

There are some parts that have failed in the horizontal scan amplifier. You will have to have the set serviced by a TV service tech to determine the exact failed parts and have them replaced.

My JVC tv picture has only one quarter of the screen

Hi. 1/4 screen. Horizontal or vertical ? Makes an important difference. I need more details, like typenumber f.i. Also, you must be able to carry out repairs on this electronic circuitry. Otherwise it makes no sense talking about components etc.

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

My sony tv problem is that the picture is stretch horizontally..

If you have a DVR too, there is a pound (#) button on the beside the zero on the DVR remote that stretches my screen off and on. Try that.

25 inch sanyo tv

If the horizontal lines going through the picture are fine white lines, then I would suspect the picture tube as having a heater to cathode short or some other problem. Since some sets have had a 3 year warranty on the picture tube, you may be lucky unless the labor to replace the tube is more than the set is worth. Sanyo is usually not a good name in consumer electronics anymore, so if you're looking for a replacement I would look elsewhere.

It sounds like a vertical deflection problem. You mentioned you had a white HORIZONTAL LINE in the middle of the screen. If this line runs from left to right across the screen it's in Verticla deflection. If it runs from top to bottom, it's in Horizontal deflection. I am assuming the problem is a Vertical deflaecion problem. The repairs necessary are most likley to replace the vertical capacitors or the verticla deflection chip.

Faint horizontal lines in picture

This is usually caused by a problem in the Horizontal Output section, around the Horizontal Output transformer usually a capacitor or diode going or gone faulty... the line you see are the Horizontal "Retrace" lines that are useually "Hidden" when the circuit is OK..

Horizontal Lines

The unit most likely has a short in the horizontal section and would require repair by a service center. Go here to find a JVC repair center in your area http://maps.jvc.com/cAscList/
