Can't transfer videos to dvd with my Panasonic SDR H40P

Apparently the software that Panasonic sent with my video camera is not compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 3. The solution is spending $79 on another software. Not happy about it, but grateful for your exper that helped me get this resolved. Thanks.

I have a palm cam #sdr-h40p/pc having trouble burning a movie onto a cd. a cheak mark is placed on that video. with the cheak mark it will not let you download that video again

Have you tried simply renaming the files to .avi extension and see if they can be opened/played?
Data recovery software tries to identify the file type, but does not always get it right...
