All of a sudden my HP 1610 won't print in black. It's printing in blue. What's up?

No , we all only wish, this is the bane or all printer users. You cannot print without all in full & being OK. Also must use color sometimes else nozzles can clog up. Must clean, too.

Go into Printer "Properties" look for "Print in Greyscale" set it to OFF, OR set to color,either way

I suspect this is happening because your "Font" is set to Red. What you need to do, is when in the document, go to the Tool Bar and find & select the "Font" and change the color to Black. It is usually a little "Box" at the side of the name & size of the Font, you click in here and another little popup will appear showing colors, simply click on the Black color, and it is done, set.

Hi, it is possible that your supplier has a faulty batch of cartridges. The only way to rule this out is to purchase a genuine one, try that and see how you go. Im sure if the problem is the ink , your supplier will be helpful, especially since you have been a customer for 2 years

your black print cartridges has been dried, these need to replace.

try this.. i got the same problem before.. and the main problem is the NO MECH MODE.. try pressing the setup button then take the plug out of your printer.. (still pressing the setup button) and put the plug back.. and it will remove the no mech mode.. then you could print like before.. i hope this helps

Go to your print driver, should be in the "printers and faxes" folder in XP. Right click on the driver and select properties from the drop down menu. Go to the Advanced Tab and select "printing defaults". Look for an option entitled "print all text in black", under the Advanced tab, in document options. See if that is disabled. Enable it if so and test.

You are lucky you can print ANYTHING! My unit has NEVER worked (3 years) due to a hardware defect of HP. I downloaded patches, cleaned/replaced cartridges, etc.
Spoke to HP last nite-Was told printer was junk-they don't carry it or any parts to fix it anymore!! I was told to replace it!
