The fan ossilates but doesn't blow any air - Lasko 2554 Tower Fan

  • Anonymous Dec 12, 2010

Apparently there is a stripped screw so i can't get the back cover completely off to access the motor. The fan is probably a little over 2 years old.

My guess just from what you have told me would be the motor on the fan has given up. there aretwo mototrs in it , one to run the fan and the other one makes it ossilate. As a temporary fix if you are able to get the fan apart and access the motor you can give the shaft a manual turn with your fingers and see if it will get it going. also as funny as it may sound sometimes if you just tap on the motor lightly but firmly with a small wrench it will also get it going again. What has most likely hjappened is the little brushes in the motor wear out and dont make a perfect electrical contact once they are worn so a little coaxing sometime gets it going again but no gauranties.
Let me know if this works and you can also let me know the age of it as well. Thanks for your patience and good luck.

if the screw is stripped and you cant acess the motor and if you are unable to remove the screw then you are stuck until the screw can be removed which you can do by drilling it out gently but you may not be able to put a screw back in to it after as the hole will not have the threading in it anymore. So depending on your situation you could try taking it to a repair shop and see what they say but by the time you pay for their services you will have spent enough to buy a new fan.

I am available to talk to live through our chat feature here and you can also speak to me live on the phone. If you are unsure about drilling out the screw get in touch with me through one of these other ways and i will talk you through it step by step.

    Thanks for your patience......Kevin.

hope to hear from you soon....

Hi, I have an amana ap125hd portable air conditioner and for some reason is doesn't produce cold air anymore. Then fan blows and the compressor kicks in, but to no avail, no cold air. I took the unit...

replace it,most likely the freon leaked out,if the compressor is running and the fan is blowing but not getting cold most likely you have a leak in the sealed system.

Hp a6320in processor fan air flow direction?

Processor fans are setup to nearly always blow air inward onto the heat sink that sits on top of the processor. The heat sink pulls heat off of the processor and the processor fan blows air onto the heat sink to cool the heat sink so that it can pull more heat off the processor. However, read the following link to see that it probably doesn't matter that much which way you put it: http://www.overclock.net/faqs/14695-opinion-****-vs-blow-way-do.html

I would definitely set it up with the processor fan blowing inward onto the CPU. If you're experiencing overheating you can try switching it to see if that helps. Use a program such as SpeedFan to monitor your computer's temperatures.

Good luck, please post back to this solution if you have any difficulties, and thanks for using FixYa.

So I am having a problem with my A/C that everyone says is my cabin air filter. When I am parked, the A/C hardly blows at all, but when you speed up it starts going. By the time you hit 70 mph there's...

I would put some thought into replacing the fan or the fan switch first. If the fan works OK when in heat mode, then i would suspect the A/C controls as what you say tells me the fan is not working. Only forward motion of the car causes air to pass through. Your vehicle has a cabin filter, NAPA part #
4814 but it would surprise me that its being blocked could cause the problem you described. In fact I do not think any cabin filter could be blocked to that extent.

Engine is over heating and blowing air into coolant resivor and boiling coolant

The blowing of air into the coolant resevour is caused by a leaking head gasket. What's happening is the cylinder is blowing air into the cooling system causing this to happen.
