LG KE970 The display of number/names from my contacts isn't the same throughout the phone... when someone calls me only the NUMBER is displayed and I therefore have no idea who is calling (yet in the Call Register, the NAME is shown - but not for ALL of my contacts.).

Outgoing and Incoming Caller ID

I had the same problem. Turn off the phone, take out the battery for 20 or 30 seconds and put it back in. Fixed my phone like a charm.

When people call me my LG secret...

Heya there. : )

I've got the same phone as you and I've been fiddling with it over the past couple of days. I also noticed when some people rang me, their Number's would come up, rather than their Names if they were in my contacts list.

I tested with my Mum's phone and her name came up when she called me. My name also came up when I called her. Now, our phones are pretty different Her's is a $79 phone, while mines $570. Big difference. So I don't think it's a phone compatibility issue.

========================================================================

I THINK the problem could be the following;

  • - Whoever is calling you, might have THEIR number on private.
I used my mum's phone and hid her number. Turned the phone off and back on to make sure the settings worked. When I called my phone (the Secret) with hers, on my screen it displayed 'Unavailable' where the name/number should have been.
I changed her phone back to display her number and 'Mum' appeared on the Secret's screen, since I have her number in my Contacts list.

Unfortunately, you cannot do much with this, as it's up to the person calling you if they want to display their number or not.

  • - A number is displayed on your phone you don't recognise, but it's a friend.
I'm taking a shot at this, but I figure, if you've got friend's ringing you, then they've Changed their number. So the number you have in your contact list is not the same as the one they're ringing from.

It's happened to me before, where I've thought I've had a friend's most recent number, but it turns out, she's changed it like, 40 times between the last time I called her a now.

If this hasn't helped, don't hesitated to contact me through the site, I'd still love to help you sort out how to get this phone to behave! : 3

LG Shine Bar KE770

Ah ha - the prob above has everything to do with phone memory. Once the full contacts from the sim card are transfered to the phone memory the phone history and sms can read the contact name. However, the phone does not automatically sense when a loaded number does not have the +61 country code attached to it, so every single phone number in the contacts needs to have this added so that incoming sms and calls are correctly identified. An interesting experience.
