Trying to restore from system CD

I am trying to restore my GT5058 using the system CD supplied from Gateway. I selected to reformat and reinstall back to "factory" settings.
I get the following errors when the files are trying to load:

There are errors loading the following files:
windows\system32\nature.scr
windows\system32\netshell.dll
windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322\mscorblib.dll

then a error box pops up and says " Setup was unable to initialize network installation components. The specific error code is 2."

Emachine 3653 factory restore

You can use the Restore CD that came with the computer. The eMachines restore disk sets your PC back to factory settings with the original operating system and programs that were shipped with the computer. Doing so resolves many problems that can arise from long-term computer use, viruses, or the operating system slowing down.

1. To do a factory restore insert the restore CD then reboot the computer. When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

2. Select the option to "Reformat the drive to factory settings."

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the operating system and original software that came with your computer.

4. Once the Restore finishes, you can re-install all the programs that you added to the computer as well as restore your files.

Reminder: Reformatting your computer erases all of your installed programs, personal documents, pictures and music. If you have the ability to, back up all of your personal data using a removable flash drive, external hard drive or DVDs before doing a Factory Restore.

Need to restore my whole computer but it wont let me. Gateway desktop computer Model number GT 5220

Please be more specific.

Why do you need to restore your whole computer?
What happened?
What have you tried so far and what was the result?
What operating system are you running?
What do you mean when you say "It won't let me" ?

Most computers have a way to restore the operating system in the event of a total system failure. If your hard drive is intact and has no mechanical problems you should be able to reinstall. If you do you will have to reload your programs and if you format (probably not needed) then you would lose all your documents also unless you back up first. Any computer shop can or reasonably skilled tech can fix this and also backup your files for you.

A system restore is often done using the menu's during the initial computer bootup, such as using the F2 or F12 keys (when shown on the screen) to do a system recovery from a hidden recovery partition on the original disk drive.

Many also come with a Windows install CD that can be used to install windows. Sometimes you need to select the CD as the boot device so it knows that you want to start the computer using the CD rather than the Internal hard drive. This can be accessed through a boot menu at boot time (if it's visible) or by going into the BIOS setup and set it to boot on the CD first, and hard drive 2nd.

Each brand uses different keys but to get into the BIOS menu's on a Gateway you usually hit F2 right away while it's booting. If not then watch your bootup screen carefully and it usually says what key to hit to enter setup. Don't change and parameters you are not familiar with, or post back with more details..

Restore will not work comp goes thru the motions and comes back with unable to restore, it doesn't matter how far back you go

Hi, I believe you need to reinstall your operating system, follow these instruction:
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} To install new version of XP. Insert XP CD into drive, reboot pc pressing F1 button.. This takes you into BIOS, change your primary boot device to CDrom, save changes and reboot. Select boot from CD once this appears and wait for files to be installed. Select the part of the hard drive you wish to use for your operating system (usually the largest) and select partition this drive. Delete any previous os, and reformat hard drive. (Be aware this removes everything saved on your hard drive, so always back up first) Re boot afterwards and reinstall operating system.
Hope this helps

Windows does not start normally it will only start in safe mode

Did you add or remove any software recently? Seems that while uninstalling some system file essential for the OS is either deleted or renamed. Now the PC's OS will not function i.e. boot-up. Try repairing the OS if that option is available, restore it to date & time before any software was uninstalled(if its still retains to till that date), as a restore point. If all the above fail, reinstall the OS on C drive by replacing all the system files in the Windows OS, only draw back being that all the softwares present in your PC is reinstalled............sodeep

Comp starts up and only shows wallpaper, explorer.exe won't start

You should format your hard drive reinstall your Windows XP. If you have any important data on the drive use Hiren's Boot CD, it has Mini Windows XP, which loads off the CD and you can use it to copy data from your hard drive to another one.

Gateway GT5064 Intel Pentium D Processor 820.TRy to reboot it self but unable todo so .Is it possible that my hard drive be bad. Thanks.

There's a possibilty that there are some bad sector on the hard drive, so in order for you to restore the hard drive you may need to reformat it and reinstall the opearting system for as long that the hard drive is still detected by your BIOS computer, if hard drive is still detected by your computer BIOS and you have the operating system installtion CD you can go ahead reformatting and reinstalling everything back...

Hope that helps.........
