Thanks for the help. I've talked with ASUS USA and was told they have a recovery disk but may not be able to sell it to me because the unit was programed in China under some sort of license. I'am still waiting for their "official" response. By the way, this is a nice little computer. Linux is so much better than that lousy VISTA that is on my VAIO!!

One of two ways. A reload of the entire operating system may do it. However, I just encountered a similar issue involving a laptop from spain, the only way to get it to english was a setting in the bios and a translator. I hope the reload works for you, because I know the spanish translator we found was easier than finding the chinese translator you will need. You might try contacting Asus, they may be able to walk you through it by telling you what column or line to scroll down to and where to make the change, without the translation.

Try downloading Safari for Linux. Use Linux's Package installer to install it. If you download a Windows version then it won't install as Linux doesn't support EXE files.
you know what your problem is and you need to go to microsoft site to see if vista software is for you. If you change the os it will fix all of your problems current. LINUX is the problem and you have the solution.
About your email, what is your current browser? If you are not using Firefox, you should get Firefox for Linux. that may work. Direct Link http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-3.0.3&os=linux&lang=en-US All Languages and versions http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

Here is the specs for this unit, and it is XP compatible.
if you seriously want one of these, I would go with the 4g and not the 4g Surf. You get much more battery time, and after all this is for battery time, or you would get a laptop. Its a nice SMALL machine, but has VERY limited capability. Honestly its a glorified PDA. If you want a Computer that can do it all, invest in a laptop. You can get a very nice one for under $450 and get much more out of it.
