Well i have this Quantum Fireball lct20 40 GB for a while and i have no problems at all ecept for recently it is very slow loading up information. i scan disk it i checked the sectors of the disk and i even diskframents and it all appears with no errors at all. it use to load everything quickly i evne play great games on it but for some reason it it has slowed down a great deal now to load windows take a good 5 to 10 min . or even more i know it is the hard drive sinc ei have removed it and tried another one and everything works fine. I was wondering if i cna get any help to see what is goin gon wit the hard drive since all the test i have run tells me that it is all good.

A 20Gb Quantum Fireball LCT20 could be nearing its life end considering the length of time it has been in service. Perhaps what could be done is to perform a burn-in test on the 20Gb HD attaches as a Slave or Secondary on a 2nd PC or alternately, as an external mass storage device through an IDE to USB adapter. Burn-in test would be a multiple time scanning fro errors as those used by Norton Disk Doctor. Alternately, you can also Partition Magic to partition/format and eventually test the HD.

In your concern of PC slow down after 10 minutes, it is possible that:

• the HD is slowing after some time or having difficulty searching for the called for system files;
• heat related, either on the HD motor/bearings or even on the CPU (thermal throttling);
• there are a number of software running in the background using the PC's memory;
• presence of virus and/or malicious software.

run the chkdsk utility
i have found the easiest way for me of doing this is to
click start right click on my computer you should see your drive usually C: select properties click tools check now tick both boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery on any bad sectors or you could tick one box and wait until its finished then return and tick the other box
then select check now,start should schedule this task when restart

do not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage your computer
then defragment your hard drive also download and run a registry cleaner cc cleaner is 100%free
