Our Haier HF-100/A fridge is 3 years old since purchase (Co-Op), and appears to have developed a faulty refrigerant circulation circuit. The top two shelves of the compartment are no longer freezing down. Is the fault (blockage?) worth repairing or not, and if so how much? Thanks, Johnny,

We manually defrosted the fridge after finding the problem, but it has persisted even with an empty compartment. Does that suggest anything further?

I assume that I will have to open up the top of the fridge to get to the control board if necessary to test your solution?

DC (Adaptive Defrost Control) is **generally** the issue on these....you can force a defrost by jumping L1 and Test on the board.

Some general info on how an automatic defrost works at:

http://www.applianceaid.com/defrost_cycle.html

Also, a little info on adaptive defrost controls at:

Look in the freezer section, behind that rear panel for frost build up,
if you see frost build up, its a defrost issue, like the heater, timer
    , defrost thermostat(bi-metal).

this will give you more info about cooling issues:

Should I repair or just replace my Liebherr fridge/freezer

Looks like this model is now out of date and I wouldn't trust your service guy. Any service agent will know whether the door switch, thermal sensor or control panel is faulty by simply testing them. I would not have to fit complete parts to isolate the faulty part.
Sounds like he doesn't know how to or wants the job of fixing it.
Try an independant repair service, local one man repair shops tend to give an excellent service.
If you want Currys do a good range of fridge freezers; https://www.currys.co.uk/search?q=Liebherr+fridge-freezer+model+CPEL4813&search-button=&lang=en_GB

To show just one retailer. There are many more out there. Try and buy locally if you can, you will get a better service I find.

I bought a Philips (Whirlpool) years ago and after 3 years, out of warranty, it packed up. The aluminium heat exchanger started leaking. Not worth repairing.
I now purchase Hoover. They has a 10 year parts warranty.
They are all 15 tears old now.
One gets what one pays for I suppose.

Defrost heater do not defrost creating poor air circulation

for starter call viking with your mod and ser #
there is a hinge recall on fridge door is covered by warranty regardless of age
it can cause the air channel from freezer to fridge to ice over due to too much humidity entering fridge
this stops cooling in fridge
the viking warranty starts from the day you took possession
defrost heater almost never
sounds like you need a better servicer
ask viking for other auth servicer in your area

The freezer is working but the fridge isn't cooling. Numbers in fridge door are: WRN38RWG6 DA68-11043J

Hi sarahcox36,
welcome aboard!

You say: The freezer is working but the fridge isn't cooling.
first think you have to look at is if the freezer is packed full or the frozen food is covering the air vents in the rear of the freezer not allowing the cold air to circulate back to the fridge!
They share the cold air and must have that circulation for the two to work properly.
Please check this.
Next,
Under your fridge is the small black tubes that run bck and forth next to each other.
they have the freon running through them that circulates to and from the compressor!
They may be covered with dust from years of not being cleaned! Which will keep the heat in and cause the fridge to stay warm !
I've seen where they were caked with 2-3 inches of dust and not visible! After 12 hours it was better and 24 hours great!
They should be gently cleaned every couple of months with a refrigerator brush that you can buy for 5 dollars at a hardware store .

Let me know that one of these two are the problem and get back to me!

How old is the fridge?.... READ Repair or replace?BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bless You

Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old refrigerator

It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a refrigerator or a freezer.

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your refrigerator,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old (three years for top-freezers),
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that refrigerators under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your refrigerator is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new refrigerator.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive top-freezer refrigerator
six or more years old or a bottom-freezer or side-by-side eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a refrigerator you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.

Haier HVT 12ABS fan runs, but fridge does not get cool

Hello warmfridge
happy to assist you,

You said,
We've had this wine fridge for about 3 years now, and all of a sudden it stopped getting cold. We still hear the fan turn on and all appears to be running smoothly but it remains room temperature inside. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have no experience, but would like to try rather than buy a new one. thanks!

1. You may need to add freon.
2. It may have a faulty thermostat.

It seems you need hands on service!
Our site has good companies in the repair directory.

Bless you,
please rat me here before you sign off.
Thank You
