Fault to its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
In many many cases this is an indication of a failing picture tube. The gun assembly in the neck of the picture tube is shorting. There is a fix, but this is surely last resort and the final cure may not provide a fix. Picture tube rejuvenation is not always successful. I would certainly opt for a new TV. you have to check preset picture mode if still not good then reset setting in setup mode.after that your picture become good.
if problem still then there is problem with LCD panel.
On your remote control, press the huge circle, which should be settings or menu, there, go on brightness, put it up to max if u want bright, and low if u don't .If the problem still happens, ask customer service to help, or return it!!
I have the same problem at my church with the indoor lighting on my camera. I'm able to get it work by putting the whole thing on manual and adjusting the lighting settings that way.
Your ballast may not be up to 100% of its rated capabilities, thats often the cause when the brightness level gets to unwatchable levels. You may need to troubleshoot the ballast voltages a defective ballast can usually cause a lamp to loose about 60 % of its brightness levels. The other possibility could be the DLP mirrors need polishing but that is something better left to a repair shop as the DLP mirrors are sensitive
The tv has a room light sensor, shine a bright light at it , does picture get brighter? other wise when it is cool open the bulb door , is it coated or blackened, Don't touch bulb at all.
and a heavy covering of dust on internal mirrors will cause the same effect. you will need help to clean it.
Your CRT coolant needs to be changed. Thats whats giving you the dim picture. You can also clean the projection mirror on the inside this often helps. But the coolant will need to be changed to get back the bright crisp picture. Hope this helps.
