Hi

try the following

Right click My Computer / Manage / Storage / Storage Management. can you see on the right in the graphical display the DVD drive? if yes, does it have a drive letter? if no, right click on it and assign any unused drive letter. after this assignment the drive should show up again in My Computer.

If this doesn't work go in the device manager. is there a yellow exclamation mark or even a red sign beside the DVD/CD drive? if yes double click this entry. on the new window click on the "Driver" tab. click on "driver update", then follow the instructions on the screen

If still facing the issue means

Open the below site and download the driver.

Open Device Manager from Control Panel for any error messages related to the device.

Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.

uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives and download the latest driver updates for your DVD drive model from Dell website & install it.

Also check on Dell website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.

Dvd wont work

Ground the wire that is suppose to connect to the handbrake. This enable you to watch DVD anytime. Don't watch while driving though. Driving requires full attention.

It wont detect a dvd on my acer aspire 5315 laptop

If your laptop won't detect DVD drive try and check connection first. Turn your laptop upside down and remove three maybe four screw (deepens on laptop) directly over a DVD drive and pull drive out. Blow some compressed air inside of laptop and check for anything abnormal on drive itself. Then put it back in and check if it works. If not it's either bad DVD drive or bad motherboard. Thanks and good luck.

Dvd drive wont work

Does your system sees the DVD drive or not? If it sees the drive, then I think the DVD drive is faulty, that is, the lens might be weak. Clean the lens with cotton board and try again. If it still does not work, you will have to change the DVD drive completely.

But if your system does not see the DVD drive, try and loose the DVD drive from the system and couple again or uninstall are reinstall again.

Best wishes
