its either a lint build up in vent pipe from dryer, or a bad heating element. clean out vent pipe to outside. if ok. check for a bad heating element. good-day !

I would need a model number to look up your heating element.
I can tell you that chances are if the dryer heats, but just takes to long to get things dry the heating element is probably ok.
Poor air flow is what causes dryer to take longer then normal to dry.
You will want to check your vent for restrictions such as kinks or lint build up. Don't forget to check the outside hood as it has a flapper or even a screen that can catch lint.
If your vent is ok then you need to take the dryer apart and check for lint build up around the blower housing and fan.

Each year inspect the vent pipe and vent cover operation. Disconnect the exhaust duct and remove lint from the internal exhaust pipe, the duct and the vent. Make sure the duct has no kinks, where lint and moisture can build-up.
Turn off the power; remove the front and rear panels and vacuum out the lint from around the motor and idler. Poor air flow uses more energy and can cause lint build-up in the internal ducting, leading to a fire hazard.

First place to look is to check if the "overheat" contact or the heater element has blown.

Hi, If your resistance is 2-3 Ohms, then your element is on it's way out . It needs to be replaced. The resistance should be in the range of 7-20 Ohms on a 240 Volt dryer heating element with the multimeter set at RX1. Good work finding that.

There are some additional reasons a dryer will not dry, have no heat, or cause the element to burn out prematurely.

1 If the exhaust vent run distance is too long. i.e. more that 15 feet the heating element life will be shortened Why? Because in a long vent run the vapor from the most clothes condenses on the sides of the vent hose and lint sticks to it. This lint accumulates and reduces the internal diameter of the hose. This increases air friction and the element runs at a higher temperature, etc. etc.
Solution: Clean the vent system out, or replace with a shorter system, if possible. There is an accessory fan available that can be installed that allow you to have a very long exhaust vent run. See Link

2 Exhaust vent hose folded or squeezed almost or completely shut at back of dryer. This ocures when the machine is too close to the wall pinching the hose. No air carrying the moisture leave the dryer.
It can get hot and after the cycle is done. The clothes are still wet. Solution: Pull out dryer and unfold hose.

NOTE: Don't use a dryer without a vent hose attached. The dryer will pull the hot air with lint in it back into the machine. Over a period of time this lint can accumulate in the machine and cause a "lint fire" Lint fires inside a dryer sometimes turn into house fires.
