Nikon LS 2000 Film Scanner Logo

The Nikon LS 2000 Film Scanner says the stage locking screw is still in place but it was removed 10 years ago when I bought it. I tried to put the negative film adapter in, it didn't work. Then I put the slide adapter back in and I started getting the message that the locking screw was still in place.

The lubricant has become sticky and is acting more like adhesive than lubricant. This is the most common cause of malfunction in the LS-2000 and LS-30 scanners. It's a quite curable condition.

Nikon LS-2000 and LS-30 film scanner service and repair is available. Check seller pjferrante2 on eBay. Scanner performance backed for 12 months. Very reasonable price.

SOURCE: Driver for Nikon LS 100 35 mm film scanner

Hi,
you can download the file (NS163mac.sit) at http://www.nikon.co.kr/support/download/scanner/software/ns1/v163km.htm
It's the Korean Nikon website, just scroll down, look for NS163mac.sit in the middle of the page and click.
It is the Nikon Scan Version 1.63 for Nikon Scanners and will install Nikon Control 2.2 to scan the slides. We used it on a Power Mac 7500/100 with Mac OS 8.6.
Good luck.

SOURCE: how do i scan film on my scanner

You should be able to download the manual.

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=10242

To scan film, you'll need to first remove the white cover on the underside of the scanner lid. That is where the backlight is. Also, you must be using the ScanGear driver and NOT the WIA driver. The WIA driver does not support film scanning. Locate your film guides. These are the templates that will hold the film and are placed on the scanner glass to be scanned. Lastly, there should be a Select Source option in the scanner driver that allows you to select Film as the source.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: scanning 110 negative film

I just finished scanning many 110 film strips. You need to lay the strip along the inside edge of slot A and scan in normal preview mode. On the preview strip, put a marquee around each individual photo and scan each one separately. Worked fine for me.

Nikon LS 2000 scanner is reporting a hardware error

Hello Mike,

According to a previous post this is your answer by:
johnmichaelc

The symptoms of stepper motor failure are a loud grinding noise during scanning followed by the enlightening message:
"The scanner has reported a hardware error. The present function cannot be continued. Sense: 0x04620000"

MESSAGE TO PUT FILM IN SCANNER WHEN SLIDE IS IN SCANNER

I had exactly the same symptoms and it was solved by using the screw on the stepper motor as described in:

http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1936922.php

You have to take the two metal covers off and then the plastic front, to reveal the motor. Use a screwdriver to move the carriage back and forward by a cm or so, leaving it near the front again, but not tightly - say half a turn away from the end-stop.

Good luck

I need to connect a Nikon LS2000 Slide Scanner to a Power Mac G4

I originally had the same problem but with a G5. Since Nikon never updated the software for the LS2000 to work with Apple I ended up buying a FR1SX adapter from RATOC Systems: http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/products/FR1SX.htmlwhich connects the SCSI pins to a Firewire cable. Then I purchased the VueScan software from http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html. The scanner worked for several years with this combination.

Nikon Scan doesn't recognize scanner

I have the same problem (on XP, Nikon Scan 3.1.2) ... IF I turn the scanner on before the computer (or turn the scanner on and then reboot) then Nikon Scan recognizes it. Can't say I'm happy with the solution, but it works consistently for me.

Hardware error

the problem is that the scan sledge gets stuck if arriving at end of screw. To fix:
Open scanner by unscrewing the four screws in the back - this will allow ypu to slide the sides slighly backwards and then remove. Then take the plastic front of (press the plastic tap on top with screwdriver). You will the see a small brass screw center bottom at the front. Loosen this a few turn and try again (you may have to try a few times)...

Good luck
