This is going to be one of several problems. Very first think to check is fuses and capacitors. Then I would start with the power board. Check your voltages on the in and output side. If they are all good I would go to the logic board. That is the small board and pretty inexpensive. From there you have to go to the TConn, but I don't think that is it. The next step is the X and Y board. It is most likely going to be the Xboard. If you are not getting audio or video then you can unplug the logic board where it connects to the main board. If you get the sound upon turning it on with it unplugged then your logic board is one of the things that went bad. Most cases you will have to upgrade the firmware with your new boards.
Did you check out the power supply for proper operation since both the audio and video are gone? If PS is good then the problem may very well be on main board.

my guess is either the headphone socket or associated wiring/soldering is faulty or there is a faulty connector within (connector associated with the audio)

we have had the same problem and I suggested to Hubby that we had better return it soon. He did some research and we are trying this: use the TV remote and press the center button "Select", Choose Audio, Make sure True Volume is set to On. I've only been watching for an hour but it very well may have solved the problem. Hope it works.
