I have a DENON Fully Automatic Turntable System DP 297. I had been keeping it in storage in a box in my new home for some time. When I got it out and plugged it in, nothing happened. There are simply TWO controls on the right side of the front panel: 'START' and 'STOP'. When I pressed the 'START' button I could hear a faint whirring noise, so I unplugged it and removed the rubber disc on which the records go, then I lifted the metal table to have a look. I could see the little brass spindle which had been making the whirring sound. I know because I plugged it in again and saw it spinning. There is a long black rubber-band like belt going around the spindle and around all the flanges in a sort of circle. This band was not being pulled or affected in any way by the spinning spindle. I then unplugged it again and removed the base to look inside. I can't see where the spindle should connect with the central gears to actually start the table turning. Can you tell me what part of the mechanism is supposed to interact with the central post around which the table sits? I've had this turntable for a couple of years, but I had only used it a couple of times before I packed away when I moved. I can't imagine there are any parts missing. What do you suggest?

I need a cartridge for my Denon DP-DJ151 Turntable, and I can't find one anywhere. Is there a universal I could get? Thank you!

You can fit any cartridge as long as it will fit the headshell. Just look around for something like the Denon cartridge mount.

Denon DP-297 Turntable Tone Arm Skating

There should be a weight on the end of the arm, this needs to be adjusted. Some have numbers on them, increase the number shown. To get it to work right you will have to do it by trial and error. Increasing the weight in small steps, then playing a record. The trick being so it stays in the groove, but not too much so it rumbles on the sound. You will need to repeat the process several times till it sounds right and stays in the groove.

Which thickness setting should I use when playing my 33 rpm records on my Denon DP 297 fully automatic turntable? 17 or 30?

hi,
There are only two types of records available like 17 and 30. the size 30 will be as same as the turn table plater's size. 17 will be in half sized of the 30.

My drive belt came off i do not know how to put it back on please help! I have a Denon - Fully Automatic Turntable System - DP-29F It doesn't give me much help in the instructions on how to put it back on.

1. Remove the rubber disc from the metal platter.
2. Remove the metal platter by pulling straight up.
3. Ignore the player for the moment; focus on the platter.
4. On the underside of the platter is a circle about 2 inches smaller than the platter; stretch the belt around that inner circle. Make sure it is not twisted.
5. Put the platter back on the player. Rotate the platter so that one of the rectangular holes reveals the drive wheel.
6. Stretch the belt so that it goes around the drive wheel (I used a pencil but tweezers would likely work well).
7. Replace the rubber disc.

Platter turns slow

This turntable design has a direct drive system instead of belt drive (two types). If this unit has been in storage for some time, it has most likely been at hot or cold tempuratures - not good for any electronic/mechanical system.
My guess is that the direct drive motor needs to be rebuilt - internal friction is probably keeping it from operating at proper speed. Best to consult with a repair shop that can handle direct drive turntables - several on the internet, if you cannot find one locally.

BTW: You can find a manual for this at : http://www.vinylengine.com/library/denon/dp-45f.shtml

Best regards,
Andre
