I have a JVC AV 31BP6 tv. The picture does not work but the sounds does. I tried to hook up a dvd player and I did get a picture from the video imput for a short time, turned off the tv and back to no picture but sound is fine. I took the back off of the chassis and looked for solder points that may have loosed up, didnt see anything, no burn marks or anything out of place. Should I junk it or do you have any ideas what to check? I am very handy, I know how to read a volt ohm meter. I also know a tv can hurt you too. Greg

Thank you sir, I guess I'll look for a wiring diagram to find the parts you describe. Is that someting you cam pint me to? Or do I need to add more funds. It is an older tv, I just like to fix things.

We'll see how it test out, I think the solution makes sence, even though the unit never moved, I know the solder joints do degrade in tv's due to heat. I'll let you know. Thanks again.

Greg! you may have bad connections on the main board, flip the board over and carefully check the solder points, flybach transformer, horizontal driver transformer, video circuits to name a few, if you are handy with soldering iron all the better, some solder joints are hard to spot so use iron anyway. Make sure you resolder the parts that I have outlined even if the solder looks good.

Hello, I have a JVC TV Model #EM302T We are trying to play a DVD on it. We get sound but no picture. What are we doing wrong?

For a dvd player you will need to use 3 cords. The 2 cords you talk about are probably the left and right audio cords which are red and white. You will need the yellow cord for video.

No owners manual can't get new blue ray dvd player to work on tv

Here is the manual:

When using the HDMI connections you may have to tell the DVD to output to that port.  Also you may have to connect additional sound cables from the DVD output to the TV.

Video Imput port not working...

Regardless of the possibility to repair the composite (yellow) input you would be better off using the component video input as this input allows much better resolution.

Make sure none of the Digital or Component Input Assignments are programmed, if you're not using them. Set them to "----". This may help. Some of the Component input assignments may over-ride your other input assignments (perhaps even the HDMI input assignments).
