Blue shadows on my tv was able to adjust the convergence for the color red but not the blue.

If red adjusts but blue does not adjust in some direction one of the two STK-392-110 convergence chips is bad.

Both should be replaced at the same time (about 12 dollars on EBAY) AND THE set will also have a number of small resistors in front and around them (they are usually 1.8 ohm and should read like a fuse).

Repair involves getting the chips out and replacing them. They have 18 pins each and are soldered in.

If this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Toshiba TW40F80 with convergence problems

That link is pretty good--most of the chips use low value resistors like the ones in the photos--most in this set are 2.2 ohm--check like checking a fuse.

1.) Some notes for you:
a) go into the customer menu and see if convergence is skewed and will not adjust.
b) if you replace the chips look at all the blue resistors in the photo--info for this model indicated all are 2.2 that you need to worry about.
c) use liquid solder flux before you try to unsolder them and clean the board after with acetone or denatured alcohol--remove all the old white heat sink grease and clean also.
d) apply fresh compound before you install the new chips--you have some choices--the reason the chips fail is the grease dries out but if you want to upgrade a little--use STK-392-150 CHIPS--same part but longer lasting.
e)DO NOT REMOVE 20 PLUGS TO GET AT THEM--GET THE CHASSIS IN THE SERVICE POSITON--yes, you will have to remove a few plugs and let some wires out of places where they are bundled--keep it simple--
f) use a good soldering iron at least 40 watts and do not force or apply too much heat when you un-solder and then re-solder.

The reason you want to use the liquid flux along with a wick is this set uses lead free solder--does not like to be removed--apply it before you solder the new chips in.

If you miss any bad resistors you will have the same problem you have right now--in these sets when they open they usually look perfect.

I have fixed hundreds of sets with this kind of trouble--not hard and much cheaper than having a shop do it--there is good seller on Ebay I buy from--a pair of the 150 chips is about 12 dollars--6 month warranty.

If this info helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Toshiba Rear Projection TV picture color is now a greenish hue

Hi, I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:

http://lgknowledgebase.com/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=3229

If you are not able to adjust the convergence using the remote you will need to replace the convergence chips.

Typical Symptoms

1) Convergence menu does not work for one or more colors.
Such as: Red moves up,down, but left or right fails.

2) Screen is bowed looking.

If you have one or more of the problems above you need to replace the convergence chips. You can get a kit and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

Hope this helps :)

Toshiba TP48C90 Convergence (replaced ICs, worked for 2 days)

Well, my thought is that there are a ton of knock off generic convergence IC's out there that usually hold up as long as yours did. Professionals like me will only use Sanyo original STK's. The counterfeit STK's out there are everywhere. Do some research on the web to locate Sanyo originals, they are out there.

Toshiba big screen The tv is like double exposed . I have a toshiba big screen tv and I have double images in red and green. How do I fix this problem?

This is likely your convergence ICs(chips). If you can bump it then the ICs (chips) are still ok, it just needs resoldering.
my company charges $300-400 for the full repair (replacing ICs, full realignment plus cleaning)
if you can find a company that will resolder for you, it could cost $100-200 maybe. if you are a handy person with soldering skills, you could repair yourself. i can instruct if needed, but convergence IC soldering requires decent soldering skills. you will find the ICs on the largest heatsink in the tv. the part number starts with STK. if you replace them, check the resistors in front of them and replace accordingly. most toshiba will blow up to 3 fuses (f850, f851, f852)
