The microphone on my C200 webcam won't work. I have installed the software and also downloaded from the website - several times. I have also changed USB etc. The video works but not the microphone. I particularly need it for SKYPE. If it makes a difference I have borrowed another webcam (different make) and the same problem occurs with that one.

You need to go to Logitech's website and search for the WebCam C200. On the product page there is a link at the upper right in green that says "Support". ON the next page click on the download link on the middle of the page on the right.

Select your operating system IE: Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.

You can download the smart installer or the full installer.

Once you choose, the software should help you from there.

One thing to consider is you may need administrative rights on your computer to install software.

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to check the support software - Microsoft DirectX . This comes pre-loaded on most Windows computers but has to be updated - I am currently on version 11
To start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click 'Start', click 'Run', type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK
Run through the tabs checking the 'notes' windows for information
The version will be shown on the 'Systems' tab

Procedure to re-install Logitech software
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options during the installation - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
Connect your webcam when prompted.
Before going into the programs, reboot the webcam software by unplugging the webcam for a few seconds.
Do not start the webcam using the Logitech software but allow the program software to have full control.

If you are trying to upload the software from a CD try downloading the installation wizard from the website.

This could be caused by many things including that the microphone itself has either stopped working or if you just purchased the unit it may be defective. but it can also be caused by a improper installation in windows itself.
to reinstall the camera please follow the steps outlined below.

First step i would unplug the camera and uninstall the current drivers.
2nd i would follow this link to Hp's website where you can download the latest HP pro webcam driver/software. 3rd after downloading the software do not plug the camera in and restart your computer. 4th. After your computer has restarted and all the normal startup processes are running. Open the newly downloaded drivers for the HP pro camera. install the camera. After the installation is done then you can proceed to plugin the camera. Unless you were prompted to at a specific time during the installation.
After that you should be done and it should be installed and working.
If the microphone on the webcam is still not working it is most likely that the microphone itself has stopped working. If you just bought the unit you should return it for an exchange. If the product is still under warranty you should contact Hp and get it fixed under warranty.

click on the "Download" button and then double-click on the file you downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions to install the newest version of drivers and downloads. Note: you may have an option to repair-install instead of doing a fresh install because you have the older version of the software. If you do see this option, try that first and if it doesn't work completely uninstall the software and reinstall a fresh version from the file you downloaded.
Your webcam will now work with all of your software extras.

The pdf instruction manual that came with the webcam shows the audio setup page as having gain contols for the microphone. However, the software that came with the camera did not have the gain controls on the setup page. Where do I get software that allows me to turn off the microphones. The built in microphones interfere with my headset/boom mike I prefer to use.
