This is a very common issue, If the freezer compartment is cold and making ice the
problem is simply airflow from the freezer into the refrigerated section.
Typically when one senses the refrigerator is warm they max out the settings
on both dials the thermostat with its 1-10 settings as well as off for the compressor.
This controls the compressor and temperature.
The additional setting or dial is for colder freezer or refrigerator as well , However
it simply opens or closes a flapper door between the freezer and refrigerator boxes.
When that dial or setting is maxed , it closes and makes the freezer colder, yet leaves the refrigerated section starved for sufficient airflow to maintain a cold box in the refrigerated section.
Just set the dial that does not turn the compressor off to the middle setting.
One can leave the thermostat that does control the compressor in the max setting , just not the colder freezer setting, If you notice colder isnt colder refrigerator, Its actually colder freezer, A common issue found on 25% of all refrigerator calls a simple setting adjustment.
Its easy to think that maxing out the settings makes for a colder refrigerator, it doesnt, it makes a colder freezer and warm rerigeration section.
If a freezer is making ice, theres nothing wrong with the unit other than airflow setting.

Our freezer just apparently stopped freezing, but the refrigerator still works. It's a Frigidaire Gallery just purchased a few months ago. Suggestions?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. All the cooling comes from the freezer side. So if the fresh food side is working then the freezer is only producing enough to allow the temps to be around 38 degrees. Do you notice any frost on the freezer back wall? Its possible its a defrost issue. Can you hear the fan Running in the freezer when the compressor is on? If these all seem fine then I would say you have a sealed system issue. Either a leak or bad compressor. Since its only a few months old call for factory service it should have a one year warranty on parts and labor.

Maybe corrosion in the cold control. Could be a fan shutting down. When fresh food side is warming up , is fan running in freezer? My guess with the information given. A simple repair.

My freezer has dropped in temp to -6 and my refrigerator is rising in temp and only blowing minimal cool air. The fridge is less than one month old.

ck the back of the freezer / look for ice build up / if evap coil is blocked the fresh food side isnot getting cold air and the tempt of freezer is dropping . is sounds like a defrost problem caused by main board failure or heater / defrost themo . / fresh food will keep getting warmer and soon the freezer will also .. mm

Freezer stopped cooling, less than 1 year old

Due to being less than 1 year old , you need to call a Whirlpool factory authorized service center for repairs . This repair will need to be done under warranty . You could try unplugging for a few minutes and then plug back in to reset the electronics .

MY viking side by side refrigerator isent working

If only a year old it will be fully covered by warranty. Meantime try disconnecting from the mains power supply for 30mins (dont worry the frozen items wont be affected for this short a period) then switching on again, as this may trigger the motherboard into normal mode
Good luck
