Following an electrical storm, my out-of-warranty LTV-32w6 is no longer functional. After disconnecting and reconnecting power, I can press the power button and light the standard blue power LED on the front panel. However, there is no video and no sound. Pressing the power button again has no effect -- the power LED stays lit. I've used a multimeter to determine that the 5V line is active but all of the 12V and 24V lines are dead. There are no obviously damaged components on either the power supply or main board. I'm willing to buy a new power supply unit but replacing the main board will most likely be too costly. Does this sound like a power supply issue? Or could it be that the main board is not relaying the proper signal to fully activate the power supply?
One thing is to make sure the inverter board is unplugged when testing the voltages. A shorted inverter will shut down the power supply if the fuse dosen't blow first. There are fuses that don't look like fuses so they can be missed. The next thing would be to look for a connector from the main to power supply and see if there is a pin labeled power on or p.on or similar. The main board should turn this line high(5V) when you push the power button. If not you probably have a bad main board. Unless you can find good used boards they are both expensive. Around $200 for PS and $300 for main.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have observed the same symptoms and readings with the inverter completely removed -- nothing on the 12V and 24V lines, while 5V activates when powered on. I'm still relatively confident the power supply is at fault. Any other thoughts before I make my purchase?
Exact same thing happening to me. I looked up other problems, which were similar, but not exact...which led me to take apart the TV and check for loose connections inside the unit. I now have a disassembled TV in my living room with no clear solution...
If someone figures out exactly what is needed for this problem, I would love to know.
belated followup: i ended up replacing the power supply unit -- i found one for just under 120$ -- and it's been working beautifully since then (nearly 8 months now)
i bought it through an ebay store operated by shopjimmy.com
the supply i bought was not identical to the original part, though i don't recall exactly what model tv it came from. i took a gamble on my purchase after comparing the connectors in close-up photos in their ebay listing to the defective part i had. you may have similar luck following this same route.
I've checked shopjimmy.com out before. They don't have a power unit for the 32w6. They do have one for the 37w6, though. Is that the one you bought, or is there something else I should be looking for? I'd assume it's the same unit, but I'd hate to get that one and it produce too much power and damage it even worse.
Thanks for all your help!
Belated, yet appreciated. My Westinghouse is still sitting in the back
of my closet. Could you tell me where you ultimately purchased the
power supply unit, and which model # it was?
