You should be able to just push it back in. You have to take it out to hook to the vacuum port don't you? Here is another link for manuals on this.

this worked for me. i did have to push a little harder than expected but it engaged and retracted.
1. Place the FoodSaver unit on the edge of your counter or similar surface. 2. Brace the FoodSaver with one hand, grip the accessory hose near its base and firmly pull straight up. 3. While pulling, release tension fully without letting go of the accessory hose. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as many times until the hose goes back in. I can not retract the hose, into the unit. It seems to be stuck what do I do?
Cut the head off a zip tie. Place the zip tie in front of the hose and slid into the hole. When you feel resistance, give it a little push which will cause the spring to unlock.
