As per the instruction PDF that I just read, the day of the week only changes with each 24 hour rotation. Therefore to change it, you might pull the crown out all the way and wind it through every hour in each day until it advances to the day you want. Then set the correct time. Push the crown in one notch to the second position and wind the dates forward until it stops on the one you want. It doesn't appear that going backwards for either the time (for day of the week) or date works.

Try this: pull out the winding crown to the first click and change the date. Memorize which way the crown turns to do that. Now turn the crown in opposite direction and the day should adjust.
This solution wrks for most of the makes.
If this doesb't work - submit the make, model and all the writings on watch caseback.
SOURCE: HOW TO CHANGE DATE
I have an old analog quartz Timex watch with a mechanical day and date display. The stem pulls out to only one position which moves the hands. As the hands are rotated past the midnight (not noon) position the date changes first and then the day.
The simplest way I found to adjust both the day and date is to advance the hands forward through the midnight positions until you reach the desired day. As soon as the day clicks into the desired position back up the hands through the midnight position to about the 10 pm position. This resets the mechanism to set the day/date. Then advance the hands towards the midnight position carefully until the date changes and before the day changes. Again back up the hands through midnight until about 10 pm and then forward to advance the date, stopping before the day changes. Repeat the last two steps until you get the correct date. Then rotate the hands back to the correct time, if it's a morning time be sure to rotate all the way back through 12 noon to the correct time. Hope this helps.

raebarb,
I had the same problem, you can fix it without an expensive watch maker. The online instructions are not perfect, but are better than the ones that come with the watch. Go to www.michele.com/.../Michele/.../instructions/michele_instructions.pdf
Refer to page # 10 "Adjusting the Chronograph Hands to Zero Position" even though these instructions refer to adjusting only 2 hands on a different model, with a little playing around you can reset all 4 hands. The trick is to pull out the stem, 2 clicks to position III and then using buttons A and B. You will have to do the 2 hands then push the stem back in. Repeat the process and reset the other 2 hands.
Good luck, YOU can do it, I just did.

that happened to me too...the watch repair man told me that I had the stop watch on. The stop watch should serve as a stop watch, not the second hand. The second time on your watch is the small dial at the bottom middle of the face. Once I turned off the stop watch feature, my battery life is fine...I have not had to change my battery in over 2 years now. HOpe this helps.
