I broke a lens once and just went and bought a New / Used Bounce Flash that had a uneversal flash-boot. most cameras have a flash plug in to acommidate Auto Flash Modes. If You Know how to test Cameras and Adjustable 'Bounce" flashes like yours PAWN SHOPS are a PARADISE.

Are you sure your flash not working does affect the AF?
Check the menu for the auto focus setting, if it is still in ON.
And you did not switch off the flash yourself?
Is the lightening loge visible on the display and then the flash still does not fire?
The flash can be switched off to, for instance when you are in a museum. Check all settings. The manual must be online still with Canon USA.

The 199A is not designed to be a wireless controller. It was designed long before wireless control of flash units was available in consumer flash units. You'll need to use the built-in flash, a more modern Canon (or compatible) controller, or some other wireless setup (possibly radio).

Okay let me get this straight, you mounted a Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens on a Canon T2. That's the Canon Rebel T2 right a film camera? If so you just can't do that because you mounted a digital lens on a full frame camera it's a wonder it allowed a manual shot the A6 is an error code for Transmission can not be made. The reason the 55-250 works is because it's a film lens or "Full Frame" where as the EF-S lens is for an APS size sensor with a 1.6 factor.

return it for replacement under warranty before it expires. This is not fixable by DIY and you should not attemp to open it as it will void warranty

this error indicates 1 of the following.

the front cover is open
the back cover is open
paper jam

usually its the back cover, either its not fully closed or the swing gate inside is not in track with the sensor, it has to be pulled out realigned and put back in.)

also possible there is a little piece of paper jammed inside the front or back area.

take a silver paper and put in front of the slave censer when you take the photo flash on camera as master should go on silver paper OR used slaveunit

check Custom Functions of Camera and Flash it can be turned off in both locations

Check out LEE Filter or Kodak IR Filter
Place that filter over AF Sensor.

Or try ti find remote(TV/VCR/DVD/radio) control unit with a large filter over led.

You can still glue those broken part and glued it back as close as possible.
