Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

I turned on my camera and I get an error message that says, Lens Error Camera will shut off automatically. Then the camera shuts off. The lens will not pop out?

Hi.
This problem occurs when there is zoom-block problem. The solution is to change all the zoom-block, but normally this is more expensive than a new camera.
This mechanism fails due to sand, dust or just useful life expired.

My lense doesn't go in or out and days on the

There is a reset in the menu but this is generally for the cameras settings no physical hardware (see instructions below if you do wish to try). With issues like this one there isnt much that can be done and resets dont normallt have an effect if the lens is stuck. In this situation the camera would need to be seen by a repairer as the optical unit will most likely need to be replaced.

Reset:
-Press menu
-Select 'Tools' tab
-Select Reset All
-Select OK

A lens error can be caused by physical damage to the mechanism that controls the lens, or debris that is interfering with the operation of the lens.

This article may be able to help you with a "do it yourself" solution.

In the event that your problem is due to physical damage and not just dirt or debris, you will need to take it to a local camera repair shop for troubleshooting-- though with most consumer digital cameras, labor and parts cost of a repair can easily exceed the value of the camera.

Lense Error, Reset Camera.

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Turns on four beeps and it shuts down

I was all over this site and the only solution was to send it into repair for the "4 beeps and shut off" problem. I found another site that talked about lense errors, and one of their suggestions was to take the camera, lense up, smack it into your other hand (not too hard) (screen down toward your receiving hand) while the lense was out. You have to be fast, because when you power on, the lense comes out, and you have about 2 seconds to do it. My first light smack, and the camera came alive again! They also talked about lightly tweaking the lense while it was out in case it fell off track or skipped a tooth, but that wasn't my problem apparently!

E18 lens will not come out

E18 Error Fixed Canon PowerShot A520 My lense would not come out and would give me the E18 error and shut down.

I just pressed the power button on and held it down while extending the telescopic zoom lense. It made a horrible sound but the next thing I knew the lense extended out and the camera worked again!

Jammed Lense)

Make sure the lense is not bent. If so, gently straighten it. This worked with mine.
