STR--DG910: no rear speaker sound, no center speaker sound

The rear left and right channel has a audio output ic problem, first check rear speaker wires for shorts, if okay! the system will need to be assessed for repair costs.

Why not? People have been known to run them with lesser receivers and sources.

I don't see why not. Use any record out or if you can rear pre amp out connect to the input on the bose unit.

Clarify, did it ever work for you? Were both receivers used properly configured for the subwoofer? Did you also test the other speaker moduels running off the subwooferto see if they work?

you cannot hook a bose system up with any other system not even another bose

i added the vcs 10 center channel speaker for 180 to "upgrade" to the 7.1 and bought a new pioneer vsx-91txh receiver on ebay for 515.

Go into the menu settings by pressing "Receiver" --> "6-Video" --> "HDMI Audio" select "Amp," not "Amp+TV"
Yeah, it makes total sense to have a very important audio setting in the video menu.
