I finally received a letter from WinZip with download sites. After chosing a couple of sites, I finally found the download that works! I don't know why so much of the software is so difficult to install on Vista. I still have to wait for a CD from Quicken to see if it will work. Flash Player is also another download that doesn't work. Thank you for your help. Susie43

But it isn't for Vista 64bit. not all win 32 apps will run on a 64 bit OS. when available you will have to download 64bit programs not 32bit. I'm not sure about Vista 64bit OS but in windows XP 64bit if you right click on the setup file (maybe under properties, i don't remember) you have an option to run the program in a compatibility mode. run it under the compatibility mode for XP or if it has the option 32bit. Hope that works for you

How to get my laptop reset to the original factory settings?

Go to the laptop maker's web site and look for a restore CD.
If you don't find one there, send them an email and explain your problem.
A Google search with the laptop make and model and the words "restore CD" might work.
Last resort is format the hard drive and re-install the Operating system.
Most laptops do not come with an OS cd, but the license key is on the bottom.
Here is a link to various Windows operating systems you can use with your CD key.

I was attempting to install my Lexmark8300 printer onto my computer (with Windows Vista) and I get the "Not a valid Win32 Application" message. What changes could be made to my drivers to fix...

Hello, Are you on Vista 32bit or Vista 64bit? Sounds like you either have a corrupt installer or you are trying to install incompatible 32bit software on a 64bit system.
Download the drivers from here (Lexmark links): 32bit 64bit

Hi I am Farah, and as I wanted to download java , it came thet" " is not valid win 32 application'. What shoudl I do? Thx

It is possible that you are attempting to install a 64-bit version of Java when you have a 32-bit operating system. Check your operating and confirm this. In Vista you can find this using Start > Control Panel > System. This is similar if you have Windows 7. Here is what it looks like:

pcjanitor.jpg
If after that you, you follow these instructions from Sun (Java) to locate and install the 32-bit version.

Error: x64.exe not a valid Win32 application This article applies to:
  • Platform(s): Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003
  • Browser(s): Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla 1.4+
  • Java version(s): 6.0
SYMPTOMS

While trying to install Java a user gets an error message similar to:
' ... x64.exe not a valid Win32 application'

CAUSE

The error message is a result of trying to install a 64-bit version of Java on a 32-bit operating system.
SOLUTION

User needs to install a 32-bit version of Java software, since a 64-bit version is not compatible with their 32-bit operating system.

Follow these steps to download 32-bit Java
  1. Go to Manual download
  2. Click Windows XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008 Online.
  3. The File Download dialog box appears.
  4. Choose the folder location.
  5. (Save the file to a known location on your computer, for example, to your desktop).
  6. Click Save.
  7. Close all applications including the browser.
  8. Double-click on the saved file icon to start the installation process.

No sound in win 7 with P5VD2-MX motherboard

Hi again,

I've just run a check, and Asus don't have driver support for win7 on the P5VD2-MX, not sure if they ever will. Though they do have the drivers for Vista (32Bit),

You can download them from here:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

Just type in the model number in the top left corner, select the correct board, then select your OS, then away you go.

Hope that helps.

Software incompatibility on my acer aspire6930-6455

Well, we wont know until you try. In my opinion, your 32/64 bit issues will be solved, but you would still have the normal vista/xp compatibility issues.

But that is to be expected, like when we all upgraded from win98 to XP.

So - I would recommend downgrading to Vista 32 bit, or getting the 64bit software version of the programs you want to use.

Good Luck, and let me know what you did, and how it turned out! :)
