Uninstall spysweeper I cannot uninstall Spy Sweeper completely. I tried through add/remove programs, and the uninstall utility on the software. Most of the program has uninstalled but not all of it.

    I AM TRYING TO UNINSTALL WEBROOT SPY SWEEPER. THE PROGRAM IS NOT LISTED ON MY IN MY PROGRAMS AND CANNOT BE FOUND ON MY COMPUTER WHEN I SEARCHED. YET, I AM TRYING TO DOWNLOAD A NEW ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM WHICH STATES I NEED TO FIRST UNINSTALL SPY SWEEPER.

    I am having the same problem of uninstalling webroot SpySweeper so that I can install McAfee. I have contacted McAfee as well as webroot for help with no advancement. I went to the site suggested here: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/ for free program to uninstall but nothing. I still get the same error message once I try to download McAfee. What next?

    I just renewed my McAfree and unable to finish my MaAfree installation due a message from McAfree to remove webroot spy sweeper with AntiVirus. I have checked my add/remove programs and unable to find spy sweeper. I have downloaded the CCleaner free download and still not able to find how to uninstall the spy sweeper. Help! Can someone advise what I need to do so I can complete my McAfree installation? Thanks, Stacy

    upgrading the bt protection to mcafee from norton and would not let me continue without getting rid of webroot - didn't even realise i had it on the pc - thank you nobubbles - now solved - easy solution when you know how!

Go to Start/Run and enter regedit hit the Enter key.
Go to:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Webroot

Delete the webroot folder.

Go to the webroot website download free trail then load your new one then it will unistall the old one, it worked for me..

Hi Friend,

Close the SpySweeper Program
  • If SpySweeper isn't closed properly, it may not uninstall completely. Click the SpySweeper icon on the Windows toolbar, then choose the "Exit" command to close it. Hold down the "Control," "Alt" and "Delete" keys at the same time to open the Task Manager. Select "Processes" and look for a process called "spysweeper.exe." If you find it, choose it and then click "End Process." Next, look for a process called "WRSSSDK.exe" and follow the same procedure to close it if you find it.

    • Uninstall SpySweeper
  • Go to the Windows "Start" menu from the toolbar, then choose "Control Panel." Locate the "Add/Remove Program" option and choose it. Once the list of available programs is populated, find and select SpySweeper. Click "Uninstall" and let Windows complete the uninstall process. You will get a message when it is done.

    • Test the Computer
  • Reboot your computer, and once it has restarted, look for the SpySweeper icon on the toolbar. If it is absent, hold down "Control," "Alt" and "Delete" to open the Task Manager. Under "Processes," look for "spysweeper.exe" and "WRSSSDK.exe." If the uninstall was successful, you will not find them. If they are running, end them and go through the uninstall process again

    Look for any entries in that key that pertain to webroot or spysweeper and delete them. be very careful to only delete those entries and none of the others.

    You may also see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Webroot

    In that REG_SZ . Delete this entry and restart your pc .. now you can install mcfeee

    I am trying to uninstall webroot spysweeper with antivirus but cant find it to remove it, what should i do?
    Under normal circumstances, like any other Anti-Malware software, Webroot will protect itself. You cannot randomly shut down its service. You cannot use most external uninstallers.

    Always try to uninstall it using Add & Remove Programs first (on XP) or Programs and Features (In Vista and 7), or the uninstall link in All Programs on your start menu.

    If you are not able to find it in any of these places, get the official cleanup utility from Webroot directly at:

    http://download.webroot.com/SSCCleanup.exe

    This utility is made to cleanly shut down and clean up Webroot SpySweeper, Antivirus, and Internet Security Essentials and will even remove itself when it's done.

    I downloaded a trial version i cant uninstall it
    Download program called spybot search and destroy and install it. Update it and then disconect from the internet. Start pc in safe mode (When boot up pc keep pressing F8) Wait for list and start in safe mode without networking. If webroot is running close down and run spybot. Depending on your pc it can take a long time. Make sure you are disconnected from internet while doing this...Hope this helps...Please let me no how you get on...

    How can i remove webroot spy sweeper with anti virus from my computer?
    To uninstall Spy Sweeper :: let Microsoft Windows uninstall the software automatically.
    1.clicking on the Start Button
    2. Select Control Panel

    I have a subsription with McAfee and I cannot download the software before having this webroot spy sweeper removed.I cannot find it on my computer and never had a subscription with this webroot spy...
    first uninstall the webroot spy sweeper through the following steps.
    1.click start 
    2.go to control pannel
    3.open 'add or remove program'
    4.a window will open wait for some time until the list is populated

    5 i)in that list find webroot spy sweeper and click remove 
       go through the uninstall wizard and finish the uninstallation process

    5 ii)if you didn't find webroot spy sweeper there then it can be a virus
    You need to download a program called MalwareBytes because that searces your entire computer
    , finds the virus and completely destroys it.

    Click the green 'download now' button (don't worry - this is free) and once you've downloaded it, got the updates and done a system sweep which takes a long time but it's worth it, you should be fine. It also solves the desktop, wallpaper and screensaver hijack, too.

    6. restart your computer

    7.open mycomputer click search and do a search for webroot spy sweeper
    delete all the files and folders regarding webroot spy sweeper

    8.now download mcafee before installing mcafee uninstall MalwareBytes and restart your pc
    because at a time only one antivirus software should be used

    i think this solution will help you 
    if the problem is not fixed please inform i will suggest some other ways

    I need to shut down spy sweeper and reinstall - how do I do that?
    Restart your computer--> black screen--> after the Bios check (is always the 1st step)--> start pressing the F8 key repeatedly--> Windows boot menu will apear--> use the arrows--> Safe mode

    It will look different from you normal Windows (don't worry about this)--> go to Add / remove programs--> Uninstall your spysweeper program--> restart your computer normally--> install your program normally

    most effective way to uninstall Spy Sweeper is to go to Control Panel and then select Add and Remove Programs. In this case, you may try to follow the instructions below.

    1.right click on the Spy Sweeper icon on the right hand side of the toolbar where the clock is located and select exit

    2. press ctrl + alt + delete which will open the Task Manager.

    3. Click on the Processes tab. Search for spysweeper.exe. If this process is running click on it then select end process.

    Repeat this step to search for and close the process WRSSSDK.exe. After this is done Spy Sweeper should be able to be removed by using Add/Remove Programs
