Fridge Freezer issue

Our Samsung started making a funny noise a little while back (which got louder, prior to changing in tone/volume) - we have now noticed that around the seals (and also the sides) of the doors to both the fridge & freezer, are very hot. (the unit still continues to make a strange whirring noise). Also, the ice maker/dispencer has stopped making ice? (it still motions to dispence ice but there is none being made in the ice box??)
I think (from the noises that were originally being made) that it may have been the fan - can you advise if it might be something else, or if the newer problem with the ice box suggests a greater problem? - Also, how difficult would it be to replace the faulty fan? (if that's what it most likely is)

Thanks

Also our new Ice cream is all melted but the frozen foods are still frozen?

the ice box is pushed in all the way.

I had the same prroblem last night. The fridge started humming very loudly, and the inside of fridge where the freezer wall is was very, very hot to the touch. When i took the back panel off,i noticed immediatly that the fan blade had popped right off of the spindle. It is held on with a small spring like coil, and has to be positioned just right to be able to turn without hitting anything. After putting it back on and turnng on fridge,it worked properly again.Luckily, the compressor did not burn up,and we returned home to find the house still standing. It seems to me to be very poorly designed, and should never just pop off.I can see a fan motor that could burn itself out and quit working, but a fan to pop off??!! We have had this unit for two years and have had to replace the fan motor once, and have service twice.

If it is a HMMMMM...CLICK sound it is the relays. (approx. every 30sec or so).... OR, condensor fan located next to the compressor.... Otherwise it is more than likely the fan(evap Fan)!

Goodluck,

Brian

Fan make noise

There are 2 things in that area that can make a noise, the ice maker, and an evaporator fan, depending on the model. The fan is an easy fix if the blade is just hitting something ,but you have to be abit mechanically inclined to get to it.The icemaker has a little motor that sometimes gets stuck in the ice harvest mode, then you just have to unstick it ,also depending on what kind of fridge you have..everything else is down at the bottom, compressor, condenser, ect. In any case you probably want to call a tech unless its old, because repairs would be more than it is worth.

1. Open the freezer to see if the noise gets louder. If the noise becomes louder with the freezer open, the noise is likely caused by the evaporator fan. If the evaporator fan is the culprit, replace it to get rid of the noise.
2. Take raer panel off inside freezer and check there is no ice build up which is hitting the fan
3. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall, and check the condenser fan at the back of the fridge. A metal panel may cover the fan, which can be unscrewed. Listen to see if the fan is the source of the noise. If it is, the fan may need to be cleaned or replaced.
4. Unplug the refrigerator, and listen to the back side of the fridge. The fans will immediately stop running. If the back of the fridge continues to make a noise after the fans have shut off, the sound is most likely coming from the compressor, which is located at the back of the fridge, near the bottom. If you have a compressor problem, you either have to replace the compressor or the entire refrigerator.

Every 20 minutes, my freezer would make a crackling like noise. What does this mean and how can I fix this?

Refrigerators are not the most complicated appliance in the house, but it still takes a lot of parts working together perfectly to keep your food cold. If one of those parts breaks down, or begins to, you may start to hear new noises from your refrigerator. Fridges make some noise during regular operation, but if it suddenly gets louder or makes a different noise, it is a good sign that something is wrong.

Freezer Fan
Freezers can be located on either side of the refrigerator, or may be at the top or the bottom of the unit. If you hear a noise coming from the area in which the freezer is located, you should open the freezer and see if the noise gets louder. Any squealing sounds coming from this area indicate a broken freezer fan. These units are not designed to be repaired, and eventually one making a loud noise will break and need replacement.

Condenser Fan
All motors typically require a fan in order to maintain a safe operating temperature. Like the fan in the freezer, the fan that runs on the condenser can also break down and create a similar squealing noise. The location of the fan noise is what differentiates the freezer and condenser fan problems. If you hear a fan noise coming from the lower part of the fridge at the rear, it is likely the condenser fan causing the problem.

Action to do
Open the freezer to see if the noise gets louder. If the noise becomes louder with the freezer open, the noise is likely caused by the evaporator fan. If the evaporator fan is the culprit, replace it to get rid of the noise.

Pull the refrigerator away from the wall, and check the condenser fan at the back of the fridge. A metal panel may cover the fan, which can be unscrewed. Listen to see if the fan is the source of the noise. If it is, the fan may need to be cleaned or replaced.

Hello. My fridge freezer is playing up. It's from John Lewis and is about 4 years old. The fridge was not reaching the right temperature and it was making a funny noise, so took it apart and found that...

most fridge-freezers send cold air from the freezer to cool the fridge. the flow is usually controlled by adjusting a 'warmer-cooler bar or wheel in the fridge. maybe you disturbed its original position while working on the fan.

Lg fridge freezer model gr-s352gca fault

Buy another brand. LG are cheap and nasty when it comes to whitegoods even though the price tag is still up there. I have done nothing but research for my next fridge and i might go with the same brand as i have had for the past ten years and have not had a single problem.(it is definately not a LG of Samsung or one of these other brands that have all the advertising and have only been around for a little while)

Electrical noise

If the noise from the compressor sounds like a humming followed by a click, the compressor is "short cycling". Could be either the compressor relay or the compressor itself is bad. Not sure on the hissing noise. Could be just a loose panel that needs to be tightened or adjusted.

Samsung american style fridge/freezer needs repairing

Spray a good quantity of WD-40 on the spindle of the fan motor where it enters the motor itself. This should get the fan working smoothly with no noise. This will probably solve the other problems, as the fan prevents various components from overheating and shutting down.
