When I hook these speakers up to my computer and put sound through them, the tweeter part works, but no sound will come through the sub part. What is weird though, when I am getting a text message, the weird sound that comes through electronics happens to my speaker, but the sound comes through the sub. I have no clue to what is wrong.

Can't say for sure....there should be a bunch of screws in the back so you can gain access....is this a powered cabinet??...can you dis-connect the present speaker and horn and hook up another just to make a test?? Is the cabinet plastic?? There could be loose screws....Does the cabinet have a recess for a stand??If so, check the retaining screws in that as well....and don't forget to check the grill....

First of all i need some more information, such the power amp you've hooked to them rating in watts and please specify if you are not getting sound from tweeter or 15" BW speaker or both of them, this way i can improve accuracy helping you out.

Sub outs needs an active speaker.

An active speaker have a built in amplifier and preamplifier.

For a passive speaker it needs an amplifier.

Crossovers RARELY blow... most likely the tweeter speakers have blown... not fun to find replacements.

black and red will goto 1 speaker. and blue/yellow to the other. typically red and yellow are + and black and blue are -. the crossover board might tell you which is which where they solder to it. but i'm pretty sure the black/red goto woofer. try hooking up both to woofer and listen to it. 1 way is going to sound horribly wrong lol. that will mean you hooked up the tweeter leads to the woofer. but DO NOT HOOK UP WOOFER LEADS TO TWEETER. thats why i say to do it on woofer.

Plug in one a at time using the same input. Take the left speaker and the left input wire. Plug the wire from the mixer into the one speaker if it sounds ok then unplug the speaker and replace it with the right speaker. If it sounds ok replace the wire with the right wire. This will tell you that each speaker is working and each cable is working. If you switch speakers and they sound different then the possibility of a blown high end driver in one. If they sound ok each by it self but the high end suffers when they are both hooked up then the possibility of the speakers might be. Not sure what the sub has to do with the whold setup. Hi. The mixer puts out a full range mix, the solution is in your speaker setup.

Many subs have a built in crossover that splits the signal for the tops. Check your sub specs or manual. If your subs have this, run your output signal to them first and then link them to the tops from the special daisychain socket.

If they don't have one, you can install a passive crossover to your subs or buy an external crossover unit.

The last (and not very good) option is to fake a crossover with the desk's stereo EQ. Connect the subs to the left or right channel and the tops to the other and use the EQ to remove the bass from the tops and vice versa, pan everything dead center. Obviously this sacrifices your stereo sound and isn't brilliant.

Please check the wattage of the replaced speakers, now check the cross over in the speakers, if the capacitors are short the voltage might flow into the tweeter coils to burnt them out. Also you can try and reduce the high frequency and also see if the tweeters heat up . If so use high wattage super cooled tweeters.
Check finally for fault in the amplifier output- high voltage/current.

You can probably trace which colors go to the smaller of the amps... Yellow is often used for tweeter but there really is no standard. Striped wire is probably the minus lead. If a pair is heavier, that would be the pair for the woofer... and red is often positive for woofer and black the minus. Searching the Mackie schematics doesn't really show colors. You could call their service dept.

You should order an exact replacement from Mackie since this is a reference monitor.

Consider putting a limiter or fuse in series to protect the speakers if this was due to overdriving it.
