Hi,
There are several possibilities here so you will need to work with me to resolve this problem. In order for Closed Captioning (CC) to work, you need to make sure the CC settings are correct on the TV, and then make sure they CC is switched on. In addition, if you are using a cable or satellite receiver box, CC also needs to be switched on for these "boxes".
It's easiest to start with the TV. Please make sure you have done the following:
1. Check the Closed Caption settings are as follows from the TV on-screen menu as follows:
a) Press the "MENU" button on the DYNEX remote
b) Press the RIGHT arrow twice to highlight the "SETUP" menu
c) Press the DOWN arrow once to open the "SETUP" menu
d) Press the DOWN arrow twice to highlight "CLOSED CAPTION"
e) Press the RIGHT arrow or the "ENTER" button once to open the CLOSED CAPTION MENU
f) Make sure the Closed Caption option "CC MODE" is set to "ON". This can be changed using the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight "CC MODE" and using the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to switch between off and on.
The "Basic Selection" and "Advanced Selection" settings are for analogue and digital closed-captions respectively. In addition, the "Options" sub-menu can be used to change the size and style of the digital closed captions (Advanced Selection). All three of these options should eventually be set according to your personal preferences, but for the purposes of making sure it is working, I suggest you set them as follows:
Basic Selection = CC1
Advanced Selection = Service 1
These options are the basic settings which will display only the spoken dialogue of the TV program.
g) Press "EXIT" on the remote to close the menu and return to viewing mode.
2. Press the "CCD" button on your Dynex remote control. This can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the remote. Each press of the "CCD" button will cycle the closed captions between ON and OFF. (CCD means Closed Caption Display)
3. Check the Closed Captions are displayed and then adjust the Basic and Advanced Selection options until the type and appearance of the closed captions are how you like them.
If you have done the above and still cannot get it to work, please let me know whether you are using a cable or satellite receiver and the brand/model number. I will then be able to assist you further.
Regards,
BElectric
Testimonial: "Thank you so much for all the info.!! will give this a try, I am using a Star Choice satelite dish. thank you will let you know. [email protected]"
Thanks. Please post another message on this page if you are unable to make it work. I will continue to assist you until the problem is solved. I think the part you may be missing is pressing the "CCD" button on the remote, but it may be necessary to change some options in the satellite receiver. Is this a new setup?
This is a genuine thread hijack.....almost.
I have a CCD button on my remote, but when pressed, it flashes rapidly and nothing appears on the screen for closed captioning. The remote does not look like the one in the manual. Mine is EN 31203B.
Additionally, in my Menu screen, I have only four icons. Video, Audio, Setup, Parental. I have no others to even SEE the screen for closed captioning. I talked to a great tech person at Dynex who was helpful. He suggested that it might be my Comcast Digital cable box (although CCD worked with the last TV I had.) On the Comcast Digital Box, I have no setting for closed captioning.
I apologize for the thread hijack, hope you'll have a good heart and help us both out.

I'm sure I can help you, but please go to the FixYa homepage -- http://www.fixya.com -- and ask a question by filling in the box and then click "Ask a Question". You need to fill in a few basic details on the next page and your question will be submitted. Please make sure you remain logged in to your account when doing so. No need to include much detail as I have much of it already - please simply confirm the model number of your Dynex TV and the model number of your Comcast box. I'm sorry to ask you to do this but it's very difficult to answer questions this way. As you can see, I'm not even able to write in paragraphs! As soon as your question is submitted, I will pick it up and try to answer. I will keep looking for questions submitted in your username. Thanks, BElectric.

EDIT: OMG! The Closed Caption Display was Disabled in my Comcast box. Everything works great now.
I can't see a question from you yet but I will try to help you anyway. The CLOSED CAPTION settings are in the SETUP menu - you stated you have this option in your menu. Highlight SETUP and press the DOWN arrow to open the setup menu, then follow the rest of the instructions above. If you can't get them to work this way, there should also be a MENU or SETUP button on your Comcast remote. Try opening the menu on the comcast box and have a hunt for the CLOSED CAPTION options. I can't be more specific as there are several different Comcast boxes and Comcast remotes.
I think I posted the question correctly. I will check back in a little while.
Thank you for your valuable time.

Most Dynex TV's only have CC on the 'TV' input option. So if you are using cable or satellite, it probably won't work.
CC (Closed Caption)
To select the options in the CC sub-menu, press the MENU button or the #
button. A new menu will be displayed showing the following CC settings:
CC
The CC feature is available when watching regular analog (NTSC) TV.
Select from CC1, CC2, CC3 or CC4. Closed Caption for regular TV is
usually CC1 or CC2.
Digital CC Style
The Digital CC Style feature is available when watching digital TV.
Select either As Broadcaster or Custom. If Custom is selected then
you can customize the way Closed Caption is displayed.
