Cracked GPS LCD Screen

I dropped my Go 720 and the screen cracked. Unit appears to work properly but the display is cracked and is unuseable. I guess I need a new LCD screen, anyone know where I can find one?

720 GPS screen off center

This is just a guess, but when you reconnected the flat ribbon cable cable to the board, you might have somehow not gotten it centered in the connector.

Burnt out LCD B&W screen on Northstar 951X GPS.

Electro Mavin (mavin.com) sell replacement new unused Optrex DMF-50174 Displays units for $25.00. Order one.
Take small screws out of the back of the Northstar 951x and carefully remove the cover, disconnect the old display unit (just one ribbon, one power connector and two screws).
Replace the display with the new one.
Replace cover and screws.
Now take your loved ones on a small holiday with the money you just saved yourself!

Need Garmin GPS Fix Advice

It sounds like the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the controller might be seated incorrectly. I would check that.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 and the suction cup fell off the inside of the windshield and broke the screen on the GPS. I believe it is only the touch screen portion because the picture looks and acts fine. ...

If the unit is under warranty, then send it back to the manufacturer. I had one customer that had the same thing happen and the manufacture offered to replace her unit free of charge.

If the unit is out of warranty, the manufacturer will not sell you a replacement screen. You can find them on eBay, but unless you know how to take the Nuvi apart, you face damaging the unit further.

If the touch screen is bad, the Nuvi will not recognize any presses on the screen. Having worked on many of these units, there is really nothing to go bad on a touch screen unless its physically damaged or has become disconnected from being dropped. If it appears that the glass is cracked, then it is the LCD display that is bad. The touch screen is a clear film layer that lays over the LCD display.

I would strongly suggest that you purchase a Garmin friction mount and no longer use the window mount. With a friction mount, your Nuvi will not fall and the friction mount is legal in all 50 states, whereas a window mount may not be.
