PS2 My son puts a game into his PS2 lately and the 'Browser' screen comes up and wont go away. I have reset it many times and even used an air duster to blow away any dust possibly in there and it still comes up. It used to do it here and there but now it will NOT bring the game up at all. I know PS2 systems are getting older but I think its something else. I dont think it lost its memory of how to play a game. What gives? Possible solutions?

It possibly could be a lens problem. You have to reset the controller for it start again. Try using a Lens Cleaner DVD preferably Philips is recommended. Blower or using an air duster won't clean the dust completely. Also servicing your PS2 from a authorized Sony distributor is also good. Or it could be a scratched DVD. Try these things.........

My son erased the entire memory card on the PS2 and now it wont play games. It will only let me go to browser and configuration.

I will ask that you have to change the memory card because that one is likely infected with a virus but first try this do this troubleshooting steps (1) plug the ps2 turn off the power from the console by pulling the power cord from the console not from the power outlet (2) Reset the system. Check

When I turn on the system or press the Reset

hi i have come across this problem many times on my sons ps. it was usualy either dirty or damaged game disc. it may also be dirt on the pickup eye on the ds itself. just be very gentle when cleaning or purchase a cleaning device for cd and dvd players.

Ps 2 disc wont turn

I had this same issue with my PS2, honestly I think it was something to do with the laser eye reader that reads the disc, when it is dirty the disc won't even spin or attempt to read it.

you can either take an air compressor and when the ps2 is off, have the disc tray open and blow the dust out of it.

Or, i personally would take the ps2 apart and clean the diode itself with some rubbing alcohol. Just don't void your warranty or somehow break it.

This article will help you with disassembly: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/guides/2003/11/ps2-repair-guide.ars Hope this helps!

When I put a game into me PS2 I get "no data" message

Hi....
I would clean the laser lens with a pure alcohol soaked swab and GENTLY dry it off. Also, get some canned duster CO2 and shoot some through any openings you can find on the PS2

Will not load some games

I had the same problem with my ps2. I found a solution that might help you. take a Q-tip and dip it in rubbing alcohol or water just intil damp. gently clean the eye and the rest of the disk tray. then dry it the other end of the Q-tip. when the eye dirty with dust or a hair or a small speck of paper or plastic from a disk will slow the ps2 down when loading. hope this helps!

It wont work

try and change the settings on your ps2
on the screen that says browser and system configuration press triangle.this will take you to another screen. while Playstation Driver is highlited press triangle again. this will take you to a screen that will allow you to adjust the way in which your ps2 reads discs that are inserted. try changing the settings to fast nd smooth
also some times you just have to insert the game over and over again until it works. its kinda like breaking in a new pair of shoes

Disc read error

Sounds like a disk read error alright. Try replacing the laser eye device in the PS2. I know a good place with pretty low costing parts for PS2s. RichsPSXParts. If not the laser eye try the ribbon cable between the hard drive and the laser eye. Those I'd think be the most obvious first checks. I'm not 100% on it since every one I know whos PS2 does that wont let me look at it instead the throw it away. Such a waste.

PS2 issue... won't load disks

probably a problem with the dvd drive itself. Maybe a dirty drive or misaligned laser. Try picking up an air duster can from your local store. Open up the dvd drive and spray a ton of air inside. That may help. Electronics stores also sell cd /dvd drive cleaning kits as well for usually under $10. You put a special cleaning disc in and just run your device.
