I would see if the camera works with disposable batteries. If it does, your battery charging circuit may be faulty. Are you charging the batteries in the camera or in an external charger? If it's in the camera, buy an inexpensive external charger and see if that works. If you eliminate the charger as the cause, the camera will probably need to go in for repair. Contact the Nikon Repair Depot listed in your camera's manual or on the Nikon USA website. They can give you a repair estimate.
Your battery may be drained. That can be because the camera's built in battery charger is not working, a defective battery or an electrical problem in you camera that is causing an excessive drain on the battery. I would buy an inexpensive external battery charger. Once your battery is charged, see if your camera works. If it does, you have solved your problem for less then it would cost to send your camera in for repair.
to see a comprehensive manual on how to do this, you can go to this website http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/noprint/L22L21_ENnoprint.pdf here, you can see theoretical teachings along with diagrams. please rate
These cameras have a internal battery that holds data for the camera to keep its settings. These batteries can be replaced but the camera has to be disassimboled to change it they should be able to be changed at a local camera shop pretty cheap.
