IPod touch Wifi problem. I got a new iPod touch 4g and my dad got new pocket wifi so I tried to connect my iPod to the internet and it would work for about five minutes but then it would disconnect from the internet and say that the wifi password is incorrect and then I would retype the password and it would work for a while but then tell me the same thing again! I know that the password is right because my dad's iPhone and our laptop work :( does anyone know whats wrong?

Hi this sounds like the pocket wifi firewall or push is stopping you from connecting, it will show connection when the password is put in correctly, but unless your either ip, or mac address is registered with the unit it will not let you connect to the net, you will have to see if there is a start ip and an end ip address in the wifi unit, as this might have restrictions to ip address numbers..for example..wifi ip start address might be 192.168.0.1 and wifi end address might be 192.168.0.4 where as your ipod might have an ip address of 192.168.0.7 ( just an example ) so even though the password is ok, it will let you connect for that few seconds, as it has verified the password and is correct, but the ip handling has not allowed you access and the firewall then steps in and blocks you.... hope this helps

I can't connect my ipod to the internet

If you're having trouble with your wifi connection, try to follow this steps.

* iPod Touch shows no WiFi address (Tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to WiFi Address.
* iPod touch appears to be connected to a WiFi network but cannot use Wi-Fi for checking email and surfing the Internet.
* iPod Touch WiFi icon is showing as grayed out.
* When you tap Settings > WiFi and then you see no network entries.

If you have wireless problems, here is another method to do.

First you need to back up your data by syncing your iPod touch to iTunes. It is very important you do this before proceeding with the fixes below.

1. On the iPod Touch go to Settings > General > Reset and then select Reset Network Settings. Now see if the device displays the WiFi address under Settings > General > About and scrolling down to WiFi Address. If there is a WiFi address listed then you issue is resolved. Else try method 2 below.

2. On the iPod Touch go to Settings > General > Reset and then select Erase All Content and Settings. Now see if the device displays the WiFi address under Settings > General > About and scrolling down to WiFi Address. If there is a WiFi address listed then you issue is resolved. Else try method 3 below.

3. If the above fixes don't work then the only thing left is to restore the iPod touch software using iTunes which will erase all data on the device. So before restoring make sure you back up your data by syncing with iTunes.

After the restore is complete, you can resync with iTunes to load the data back to your iPod Touch. Now see if your device shows a WiFi address (tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to WiFi Address). If none of the above settings and fixes work ,then you might want to consider getting your iPod touch repaired by Apple.

My iPod touch is connected to wifi, but it wont let me access the internet or iTunes saying "cannot connect to server". Thanks, Dan

the most likely issue is that your wifi router is not connecte to the internet. in order to solve this try calling your internet provider and asking them to fix your router.

My ipod touch won't connect to my home wifi- it has a password and i know it but it won't work when i try to connect to youtubesafari or anything else used with internet and it doesn't work.

Hi,
You could try this: Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
After resetting that, try to connect to your WiFi again and enter the password and it should work.

Wont connect to internet

To connect to the internet using wifi on the iPod touch, just follow the following steps:
Firstly, you should be in a wifi zone(an area where you can access wifi) or if you want to use it at your house with your residential internet connection, just get yourself a wifi router(shouldn’t cost more than $50-60) and configure it with your residential internet Once you are in a wifi zone, on your iPod touch, go to:
Settings > Wifi > Turn your wifi ON > Select a wifi network > Key in the WEP(only if asked for) > Connect
Once you’re done with this, you should get the IP settings and be able to surf the internet with no problem.
Note: At times when you’re too far away from the wireless router or a big thick brick wall is separating you and the wifi router, your iPod might show the network as available and you would also be able to connect to it, but surfing the internet using it would become a problem. If this happens to you, don’t worry, just move closer to the wifi router and it shouldn’t pose any other problems. Happy Surfing!

My touch shows that I have a wifi connection, but i cant use it.

All you have to do to the ipod is go to settings, wifi and make sure its turned on in the same place you should see a list of wifi networks you can connect to just tap the one you want and the ipod will do its thing your done, but if you done all that and you ipod doesnt go online says connected but wont access the net, my guess is the wifi router you mite have some prob with that, make sure the internet ethernet cable is pluged into the modem plug not the numbered slots after this you should be good to go unless your wifi modem is new if so some req you to plug it to your computer via ethernet cable to program it first! Hope this helps

Unable to connect to wifi network on ipod 2g touch

You must have your wireless profile's name and passkey.  Try resetting your router, then make sure you create a new profile for your desktop and take note of the details (ie name, WEP/WPA Key)  Should work just fine if you follow the steps.
