The printer start when is plug to power sorce the rolers will roll for some seconds but it wont print.
All you have to do is lift the top cover where the toner goes and remove the toner, now when u look inside you can clearly see the white colr spool or roller. This roller due to usage tends to pop up a little, so with one of ur fingers push it down and u will hear a click noise thats it, clean up if u see any dust load the toner back close cover and ur back in business.
good luck

SOLUTION:
Check the following (consult the computer's documentation if necessary):
Ensure that the printer is powered on (one green light is on) and connected to the computer.
From the Windows Printers Folder open Printer Properties for the hp LaserJet 10xx series . Ensure that " enable bidirectional support for this printer " is checked. This setting is found under Spool Settings or Port Settings .

Disconnect and reconnect the power cable from the printer.
Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.

Try to see if the printer will print anything by opening and closing the top door that leads into the toner seven times just open and close, if the printer prints a paper with lines then the printer is working now if the printer doesnt then try to take out the ink, paper and unplug the power cord and let the printer set for about three minutes..
If the printer does prints now it up to the printer spooler itself make sure thier isnt any jobs stuck in the spooler, if there is delete them and also reset the printer spooler, if that doesnt clear them out reset the computer, this will help it, finally when you have that done, do a test page by going into the printer and faxes and right clicking the laserjet 1020 going into properties, and in the general tap click on the test page this should print out a test page. if it does then your printer is up and running.
