Eee pc 1005p windows 7 wont set up although its in my machine its a new netbook

check power output of the ac adapter with a DVM to insure you see 12 volts DC.

Check that the receptacle on the eee pc is not broken.

Does the battery indicator on the laptop light up when the charger is plugged in? I have had a few laptops where the chargers had the light on but they weren't actually charging the laptops. Drop me an email with more info or reply on here and I will try my best to help.

honestly you've done everything correctly that i could think of. one last thing you could try to root out a problem with the os. is boot the computer from hirens boot disk and load the portable Windows. see if the battery is detected in hirens. then youll know if its a Windows problem or not.

personally i feel the board is the issue but it doesn't hurt to check the complete os.

you could try this or go to the link at the bottom and have a read up of what else you could try.
Push the computer's F9 button until the Recovery System window appears. Choose the option for Windows Setup and select Recovery. You should see a message disclosing that you will lose all your files in the process as the Recovery puts the machine back to its original factory settings.

since its only a week old I would advice taking it back to the dealer instead of trying to work it out yourself. There are ways to reset it but since it has gone into protect mode maybe your fan is not working!!

Actually when you restore your system to its factory settings it will restore everything on your computer including the original operating system, but if you're saying that you have installed windows 7 on it then try going to ASUS driver support website, just type in their the model of your machine and it will ouput every software and drivers available for laptop and also different versions of operating system, So just choose the correct OS version for your laptop.
