I am trying to add my printer X5150 to my new hp laptop dv7-4177 and as it is loading it comes up to say that it does not have English every other language except English I did't have that problem with my old computer. So can you tell me what I am doing wrong. Is it the installation cd or is it my new Laptop. My old computer was an Paviliona320n. Please help if you can

You need to say which OS you are using. All OS requrie different software to run. here is the page you can download your version and install it

Try this:
first uninstall the disc's software
than restart the laptop
if correct it will automaticly detect your printer and ask for the disk.
cancel the installation.
Insert the disk and cancel the automatic running program for installation.
go to start, printers, add new printer and follow the steps from there untill it says "have disk" click on have disc and brose to your CD drive. It will automatically indicate which program it requires, search on the disc that program and click OK and continue the steps.

Reason: automatic installations from manufacturers sometimes do not install all files needed by windows, installing via windows itself it will automaticcaly pick the correct files from the disc.

You need to make sure the driver is suitable with your O/S, especially vista.

Do not install any extra drivers. Vista is supposed to have the driver for this printer. Just plug in and let the system add this hardware thru add printer option. Keep it connected to the the net, have some patience, it will resolve the problem itself. If you interfere or try to refresh then it might just hang and not recognize the printer at all unles the registry is thorougly clead And the folder is deleted from My Programs on C drive. Its a bit dicey if it does not sucessfully install by itself due to interference. The only way out is either have a good registry editor or repair the OS installation once....sodeep
