I'm guessing its the "CC", closed captioning. You have to turn it off, it's either in your menu or you have a button the remote saying either, Text or CC.

I had this same problem with the 19" model as well. I had to reinstall video driver with the tv hooked up in order for the resolutions to work properly. In order to do this I used an S-video cable which worked well enough to reinstall the video driver. I did not try safe mode which might have been easier, I just did not think of it at the time. With the video driver reinstalled while the TV is attached to my computer, I know enjoy a crisp 1440x900 screen resolution. Hope this helps.

Make sure you buy an antenna from walmart or something. once that hooks up to the tv you should be able to receive some. otherwise the tv itself doesnt have a built in antenna. I bought one from walmart for 30.00 and i get about 8 dtv channels. there are cheaper ones.

Yeah I have the same model and there's no built in antenna. You have to use an external. I used to work for the geek squad in a Best Buy store and I can tell you from experience that that salesman may or may not have actually known that there's no antenna built in. It's not uncommon for them to tell small lies like that to get you more interested in the product. I witnessed it a million times before I finally quit because they wanted me to be the same way.
SOURCE: no signal
You have changed the input to a selection that does not have a signal. Look at where the cable goes into the TV, this should show the name of that input, then change input back to that exact one via your remote.
