1. Click Start > Run and type REGEDT32 and hit ENTER 2. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then System then CurrentControlSet then Control then click CrashControl 3. Double-click on AutoReboot on the right side and change the value from 1 to 0. Close regedit and restart the computer. Now the computer should shut down normally instead of restarting.
hmm..try check your bios...look at your cpu performance or shuting down temperature...maybe u can disabled shutdown temperature at your bios...or make default setting cmos setup..try that
Try a different power supply in the computer if you can. Get a known working one cause its possible that your current power supply isn't putting out the right voltages.
If you try another power supply and you still keep getting the blinking yellow light then that means the motherboard is bad.
Disconnect external peripherials except keyboard and mouse .Disconnect the power cable.Hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain flea power.Reconnect the power cable and turn on the computer When the blue DELLâ„¢ logo appears, press immediately. In bios there is option for Function key F9 or F10 probably to reset to defaults.SAve and exit and restart the system .Then try to use the PC restore feature on dell. check http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim1100/en/SM/syssetup.htm#wp1055545
Hi, I had the same problem, for a workaround this is what I did. I made a new shutdown shortcut. Now when I click on it the pc shutsdown fine. I actually put mine on the taskbar. Here's how I did it...
XP Users: 1. Right click the Desktop and select New /Shortcut. 2. A screen will appear asking you for a Command Line. Here's what you put in that box: For Shutdown: Shutdown -s -t 0 For Restart: Shutdown -r -t 0 For Log Off: Shutdown -l -t 0
After you've decided which of the above options to use, click the Next button and give the shortcut an appropriate name. Final Notes: 1. Now that you have the nifty little shutdown shortcut on your desktop, you may want to drag it to your taskbar for easier access (and less chance of accidental clickage). 2. I didn't like the nasty looking icon that XP gave my shortcut (it was too Win3.1 for my taste), so I changed it.
If this helps you plz rate this 'fixya'. If not leave a comment & I'll be happy to try to help you further. Thank you kindly.
Sounds like a heat issue, pop the side of your case open and turn on the PC, are there fans not moving? Take a close look at your processor fan if there is one.
