Ive had my Philips Magnavox for about year. Lately the color is really dull and gets fuzzy. The past few days the TV has had big color issues, like fading to black and white, green tints, and more. If i turn the TV off for a few mins. and turn it back on the picture is fine until i change the channel. I have no idea what could be wrong with it! HELP!

Popular Philips Magnavox 8p6031c Crt Lens Fluid Kit Dull Video Fix questions, problems & fixes. ... My son accidentally spilled water on our Philips tv and when i turned it on ... I need a screen replacement of philips tv 60" ... Why the tv come on but a min after the red blinking come on an it turn off by it self what the problem?
This is a very common failure on Projection TV sets.
Screen looks 3D
Colors don't line up
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed or warped.
The other common problem is cloudy lens fluid. After many years the coolant in the blue and green lens will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, bright white, etc. You may even see halos around video.
You can see some example photos and find a solution here on Fixya.

This is especially common with Phillips/Magnavox - A foggy image usually suggests that the coolant in the picture tube(s) (1or all 3) has become discolored and needs to be replaced. The only way to check this is to look directly into the crt faces (disassembly required) to see the condition of the fluid (coolant). It's a relatively big job that shops charge between $300-400 - Get an estimate. See link for Kit http://www.tvrepairworld.com/crt_coolant
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.
Are you refering to dim colors? If so as long as you dont see any halos your coolant may still be passable. I have seen sets that come back to vivid colors just by cleaning the mirroe and lenses on the crts. You can easily get to the mirror from behind after taking off the back panel and lieing close to the set leaning in over the chassis. Dont use windex a damp soft cloth works best then dry it good with some soft paper towels. Iff you can reach the back side of the screen do that also. The mirrors get dull after awhile and cleaning them really makes a difference. Hope this helps.
