May be a number of things...the power supply may have a shorted component in it...or the audio output stage may be defective...if you can obtain a volt/ohm meter you can test the power supply diodes and the regulator/audio output transistors...you will need to use the diode check function or the ohm scale to check these semiconductors...they should read infinity in one direction and , on diode test, anywhere from 500-700 for silicon(which is what is used today)..on the ohms scale you should read 500-2000 ohms in one direction and infinity in the other...if you get a 0 reading on any of the semiconductors..then it is shorted and will need to be replaced
