Hi,

theres other filters that may be dirty and need to be washed or replaced below or around the bag, study the owners manual for alternate filter locations, basically the machine isnt getting the airflow it needs and is letting you know. The hepa filter is the most expensive, try and run the vac without it and see if the light goes out. Its okay to run it without but I suggest vacumming then dusting, not the other way around..
replace it as soon as possible

However this can be a problem:There could be a clog in the hose or the bag/tank may be full and need to be replaced or emptied. Also, check the belt to see if it is worn or broken, if it's defective replace it.7_28_2012_10_15_39_am.jpg

Light is blinking and says "check bag" but bag is properly attached.

Hmmmm, Check bag you say. The manual for this machine shows it as a bagless model with a dirt cup that you empty. Is there an option for this machine that the manual doesn't show?

The bag indicator shows full but the bag is empty

In my bag vac, I have found that when the light shows the bag is full when its not that there is something between where it sucks into the vac to where it empties into the bag...maybe cat hair, dog hair....etc. Try removing the bag and running it, this may allow the air to flow alittle faster and force out the jam. You may also try removing the bottom of the vac, usually just a few screws, and checking to see if you can see the jam. What is happening is this jam is slowing down the air flow and the vac thinks the bag is full....also check the filter where the air leaves the bag area...also look where the bag connects, sometimes trash can hang there.....good luck

Hoover hygiene- how full does the bag get before the light goes on. I have been vacuuming every week for 3 months and the light hasn't gone on yet.

They usually pack the dirt in pretty tight! You can always check that the light is working by blocking the suction with your hand - if the light doesn't come on you need to get it serviced.

Bag change indicater staying on and vacuum smells hot when using

I suspect there is a blockage somewhere along the pipes leading to the dust bag.
The bag full or bag change indicator measures how strong a vacuum is present at or near to the point where the bag is connected to the pipes. Under normal conditions an empty bag poses little resistance to the air passing through and therefore causes only a slight vacuum. A full bag poses a lot of resistance and therefore causes a strong vacuum which in turn makes the indicator show time to change.
If, however, there is a blockage somewhere, regardless of the state of the bag, a strong vacuum develops which causes the indicator to show as if the bag is full.
The hot smell is proably a result of the motor having to work hard trying to overcome the blockage.
Try to look into all the pipes - you may need to do a bit of dismantling and/or strech out flexible pipes to do so - to see if there's anything stuck. Also try some (careful and gentle !) poking through the pipes with something like an un-ravelled wire coat hanger, but take great care when poking through the flexible pipes as these can be ripped and then you'll have a differnt problem !

Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme suction is suddenly poor

The other possibility is there is a blockage in the foot. these models have dual channel air flow (windtunnel) and become blocked when not cleaned depending on use. under the roller there is a cavity that can be removed for cleaning. a hot motor can be caused by poor air flow.
