My Hotpoint Ultima WF860 will not spin, the drum fills up with water ok and then does nothing, the countdown timer keeps counting down until a minute left and stays there. No faults are displayed on the front. The water will drain from the machine when the cycle is cancelled. Any suggestions?

Hotpoint ultima washing machine wma74 drum not turning

If the machine wasn't excessively noisy before and when you select spin only you can't hear the motor running its likely to be the carbon brushes in the motor worn down till they no longer contact stick a new set in if the carbon length sticking out the brass holder is less than around half an inch long

It is possible the motor start capacitor has failed. Unless you know how to test it, call a service person.

Hotpoint WF860 drum not turning. Belt checked all ok, no error codes it just fills with water and goes through the cycle filling and emptying when it should and the drum stays still. Can someone help?

ours did the same as this........ it needed a new control board after checking everything you have mentioned. it was a couple of years ago and at that time it was a hotpoint part only. but they can be picked up on ebay for around 30-40 quid.

Washing machine motor not turning

hello,

what this indicate is that there have been a power disconnection from power supply on the jet string connected to the drum (drum controller)

what you will have to do to solve this problem is to unscrew the the washer then trace the wire down to the jet it is round in shape at the back of the washer

thank you

My Hotpoint Ultima keeps displaying an F10 fault and doesnt spin correctly. However, if I then switch it to a rinse and spin cycle it seems to spin OK.

F10 meanswater level pressure switch not sensing correctly, there could be a blockage in the switch hose or chamber, or the switch could be faulty.

WF860 drum filling with water

Normally I would think that the problem is with the drain system (faulty pump or clogged lines), but you told me that also "When the washing machine is not bein.g used the drum slowly starts to fill with water!!" therefor I think it can be a dafective inlet valve or a faulty control assembly.
In either case, you will need a technician to fix this.
