I have a black screen when I connect the HDMI cable. When I connected it originally it worked for about 5 minutes but now I get nothing but the black screen. I tried connecting a different HDMI cable to it and I have the same problem. I have tried waiting 10-15 minutes before restarting and have also tried the reset by holding down the start button for 5 seconds for the 2 beeps. Nothing seems to be working. Please help.

The main reason of HDMI black screen problem due to HDMI cable may damage and not proper connected to the PS3 console. Please follow below step to troubleshoot PS3 HDMI cables problem:1) Restart your PlayStation 3.
2) Look for loose cables.
3) Try to unplug all cables except the power cord, and plug them back in. If you found out that your HDMI cable is damage, do borrow your friend cable and have a try. If your friend cable work fine, and the black screen error disappear. Then you can buy a brand new HDMI cable for replacement.
Tips 2: If tips 1 not working, you need to go another step deeper by reset your console. Most of the PS3 gamers not aware that Sony actually done include in the black screen troubleshooting method and other HDMI problems in the PS3 manual, you can find it under troubleshooting section - topic "console reset".
If you do it correctly, the console reset fix will allow you to reset back your PS3 to its default HDMI settings without impacting your gamer profile, and other storage data in hard drive.
You will need to perform the following steps:

1. Place your PS3 in stand-by mode.
2. Hold down the touch power button until a series of beeps are heard.
3. Listen for one long beep, followed to two shorter beeps.
4. Release the power button.
5. Follow the instructions on screen.

Sharp 65 inch 4k smart tv LC-65N7004U turns on but shuts off led light is on but flashes when I turn it in it showed the sharp logo then tv turns off

This would mean that either a CABLE BOX, SAT BOX, COAX CABLE, HDMI CABLE, ETC may not be working properly, something is loose, or needs reset.
-Reset ALL components by unplugging them for 5 minutes including the TV.
-Be sure all COAX CABLES and HDMI CABLES are tight and properly connected.
-If you CAN pull up the TV MENU when you have the black screen, update your TV’s firmware to be sure your TV is up to date and rule out the TV as the problem.
NOTE: If the TV now works and there is no BLACK SCREEN, the issue was either a loose cable, old TV firmware, or a component that needed to be reset and the issue is now resolved.

Our roku TV's screen picture abruptly cut out, just a black tv screen. Checked the cable connections, unplugged and re-plugged, restarted the tv with the factory reset button, tried using restart sequences...

It's possible that there could be an issue with the HDMI port affecting the display picture.

Try connecting you Roku device to a different HDMI port on the TV, and then playing content again.

Try using a different/new HDMI cable to connect your device to your TV.

Mitsubishi wd-60737 HDMI port 1 connected to cablebox. Screen is black and no sound. Cablebox is on, all cables connnected correctly and was previously working. Nothing new was done.

have you tried resetting your cable box? you can do this usually by either holding its power button in until all 3 lights light up, or by unplugging it from power , wait @ 30 seconds & plug back in .

Sharp aquos lenovo sl410 hdmi cable

Have the same problem. Old laptop works fine connected to Sharp Aquas LC 46D65U. New HP 17 envy connected by same hdmi cable has intermittent flickering (screen shuts between 1 and 2 seconds. Computer works fine on other tv's. .HP tech support says its not the laptop. TV's 5 years old. Tried 2 HDMI cables. (one suggestion was to change the tv output to 1080i or 1080p opposite to current selection, but I havent figured out how to do that yet). Wondering if its a window 8.1 issue....windows 7 works fine on the old laptop.

Sharp LC-32sb24u hdmi not working

You have to tell the TV which HDMI input to use. ie you should be able to press a button on your remote to do this. On my tv we can choose between 4 different HDMI inputs via the remote.

Onkyo HDMI + 42 " LG TV = black screen but both work fine with other inputs/ outputs

If using a box disconnect it and the set from power for a few minutes and try again.

Next I would remove connections one at a time with set off and try to see if one is creating this issue. HDMI does not like to be connected when a unit is on or power connected to it.

I get only a black screen when I connect HDMI from hp pavillion dv5 laptop to twoTVs that worked well with this connection yesterday.

Hi you said it worked yesterday?
Then you must have all the correct cables and connection.
Take the power off and check if your connections are the same as yesterday. If they are let TVand laaptop rest for 5 minutes before you put the power on again.
good luck
