Two things come to mind for this problem. First try pushing down firmly on both ends of the black rubber platen roller. Sometimes the black plastic latch on either side may break causing one side of the roller to lift up causing partial print. The other possibility is the ribbon is not lifting correctly. A technician can adjust the ribbon lift. After typing a few letters, take the ribbon out and look at the letters on the ribbon. Are they in the middle of the ribbon or are they at the top or bottom of the ribbon? middle of ribbon is correct.
Remove the ribbon by pushing the blue lever to the right and front of the ribbon. The correction tape cartridge is attached to the bottom
of the Printing ribbon. Depress the center of Printing ribbon to release the correction ribbon. Snap on a new one.
If everything was working befor the ribbon & L/O change Either the L/o is not properly attached to the ribbon or the ribbon and or L/O are old. Make some corrections then remove and look at the L/o, if the letters are near the center of the L/O the problem is the ribbon or L/o is old, if the print is on the top of the tape it is not properly attached to the ribbon or not coming out or the cassette properly. If you have a fresh set or another T/W that works swap the ribbons and look at how they are attached.
