Maytag Atlantis MAV7200AWW washer. -stopped working mid-wash cycle. - 120V between L1 and N - No fuse in line leading to lid switch - I removed the lid switch and tested it with a meter. It shows open circuit from line to motor and closed from line to machine until I push the button to close the switch. Then it shows closed circuit for both. -The washer will not resume operation.

Should be three screws on top of console. Remove and the console should roll forward to expose the switch. If that doesn't get you to it, take a putty knife and put it under the top on the right and left side in front of the machine and release the clips by pushing in. Lift the top

it does sound like a bad motor.
they are rather expensive on that machine,
you would be looking at 300 or so

Your drive motor may be fine. Check the water pump that is located in the back behind the small metal door on the left bottom corner and see if thats where your noise/water is coming from. These extraction pumps have bearings casing that gets mangled and locked up. Look right above the flywheel that the belt rides on in the W-pump.

Check the start switch on the motor and the overload circuit on the motor. Here is a wiring diagram for your washer.
