One common error that many PS3 players experience at some time is the
beeping error that some call the "three beeps of death". What happens
with this error is the PS3 will beep three times in short succession,
and then suddenly shut down. Sometimes the unit will restart and play
normally after about ten minutes, while for others, it will refuse to
turn on at all.
If the three beeps error has happened to you, you are likely
wondering if this a serious problem, needing to be sent in for repairs,
or whether it is a problem that can be fixed at home. Unfortunately,
there is no easy answer for this question because there are potentially
multiple causes of the three beep error. If you are lucky, you may only
experience this error once or on rare occasions and you may just choose
to ignore the problem and deal with the rare shut downs that may occur,
as unpredictable as they are.
However, if the three beep error happens repeatedly, you have a more
serious issue that is going to need some proper troubleshooting and
repairs. One of the most simple fixesfor the three beeps of
death problem involves resetting the PS3 hard drive. In other cases,
however, the problem may be the result of dirt and dust building up
inside the unit, causing it to overheat. By properly cleaning your unit
both internally and externally, you may be able to resolve the problem.
In the most serious cases, however, you may be facing a motherboard
issue that is in need of professional repair or replacement.
If your Play Station 3 (PS3) gets the 80010514 error somewhere, you can try this to resolve the problem:
1. Make sure that the power indicator on the Play Station 3 system is solid red. To do this, press and hold the power button until the PS3 beeps and the light blinks. Once the light has turned solid red, turn the power switch in the back off.
2. Turn the switch back on, then press and hold the power button.
3. Keep holding the power button even after you hear a short beep after 5 seconds.
4. After 10 seconds, you will hear another short beep and the system will shut down (release the button at this point).
5. Press and hold the power button again.
6. Continue holding the power button even after you hear a short beep after 5 seconds.
7. Release the button when two short beeps are emitted after 7 seconds.
8. As instructed by the on-screen message, plug in the controller and press the PS button
9. Select restore Play Station 3 system.
This should not affect any of your save games, demos, etc. but just to be safe you might want to back up to an external USB hard drive.
To backup saves, go to the Play Station 3 Save Data Utility, select the save you wish to copy and hit the Triangle button. Copy should come up as one of the options. If it does not then the save game is copyright protected and can’t be copied. If you can copy it, make sure you have a USB drive attached and copy it to that.
1. Turn
off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can hold the power button
on the front until it goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power
switch on the back of the Play Station 3 off and then back on.

Make sure your Play Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not
HDTV) with the standard video cables.
3. Press and hold the power
button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release. This
should reset the video settings.
4. Wait a few seconds, and the
Play Station 3 (PS3) logo should appear.
If this does not resolve
the problem, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the PS3 so it only
shows a red light. You can hold the power button on the front until it
goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power switch on the back of the
Play Station 3 off and then back on.
2. Make sure your Play
Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not HDTV) with the standard
video cables.
3. Press and hold the power button on the front
until the Play Station 3 beeps and then turns off again. This should
reset the video for you and you can turn it back on after this.
You have dirt trapped in the lense mechanism. use compressed air can to blow it out then turn camera off ans slap it into the palm of your hand a few times and turn on again to test if it has cleared. This is not a joke it actually works. Lots of these types of cameras suffer from this problem and I have fixed them using this method. Passed on By a Canon Tech!!! It certainly worked for mine .
