My Whirlpool Cabrio (Model Number: WTW6400SW2) washing machine gets an F1 error signal 5 seconds after I power it on to wash something, I have to pause it and then restart it for it to work,

Pressure Signal Out-of-Range
F then 1 flashes when the control detects an out of range pressure signal.
* Check pressure hose connection from tub to machine/motor control. Is hose pinched or kinked?
* If F then 1 repeats numerous times after POWER is pressed and the pressure hose connection is not pinched or kinked, replace the machine/motor control.

F1(F68)-Pressure Signal Out-of-Range
I telephoned Whirlpool at 1-800-253-1301. Whirlpool acknowledged the F1 fault and will send a serviceman, free parts and labor, to correct the problem concerning the "famous" F1 fault. This is even for washers out of warranty! This concerns model WTW6600SW2 washers. Be sure to get the authorization code from them so the service person cannot argue about costs.

Thanks for using FixYa. Yes you are right you can call 1-800-253-1301 whirlpool will send a tech. to fix it and pay for the part. Error F1 means primary control failure and to resolve this you’ll have to replace the machine control assembly. The Whirlpool Cabrio and Kenmore Oasis (same machine) are infamous for this problem. Depending on the serial number you may be entitled to a new control board installed for free under a recall program. Call Whirlpool for eligibility. I had just had mine replaced last week for free and it runs fine now.

• I called Whirlpool 1-800-253-1301 today 10/15/08 and they said the F1 issue is now under a recall.
• Whirlpool scheduled a repair service -during our phone call- to repair this under a 'recall' & at 'No Charge' to me.
• I'll let you all know how it goes after the repair..
