I have a Miele freezer with ice dispenser F1471 Vi. The small fan in the inside door under the dispenser mechanism sporadically makes a very loud whirring noise. It stops only when the door is opened. The circuit board has been replaced twice as well as the fan, and the fan has been positioned in different ways within the plastic housing. Nothing has helped. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have repaired my Sears refrigerator/freezer many times since I bought it in 1971. Recently, the refrigerator freezer section started to ice up and the temperature in the freezer started to slowly rise to about 20 degrees F and would not go any lower.
This happened once before and it turned out to be a defective Defrost Timer.
This time the problem was a defective Bimetal (Temperature Switch) that shorted against a metal tube in the refrigerator.
I replaced the Bimetal and now the refrigerator is fine - no frost and it now goes down to 0 degrees F, as it should.

Also, make sure that you don't cover any holes or vents that are in the freezer section

most flaps have a solinard that opens and closes the flap,if you can replace or get in there to lube it you should me ok,let me know more-mike

That sound is usually your icemaker calling for water. you can turn off your icemaker by lifting the little arm on the icemaker. As the icemaker calls for water the valve will be activated and will hum. This sound is usually not very loud. If your valve is making that much noise you may consider replacing the valve. The part number for you water inlet valve is #2315533 The retail price is $60.18 . I do have these on hand and available to ship out today if you need one. Please just let me know. The auger motor and coupling in the rear may be frozen and won't turn.
Remove the ice bin.
Place a screwdriver or similar device in the forks of the auger and twist counterclockwise till it moves. The replace the ice bin and try again.
It will be difficult to move.
If that does not work. Turn off the fridge and use a hair dryer to hrat the auger gear and motor till it frees up.
